Hi guys, my dd boyfriend will be traveling with us after all. (no military orders) yay! Anyway he has a studio cabin and we are in Haven. I know that he will not be allowed in Haven private areas, etc. However, will they allow him to board with us? If not I am sure my dd will opt to stay with him and we can meet somewhere on ship.

Also, we do plan on treating him to Haven restaurant does anyone know the cost?

Thanks in advance...

He will have to check in separately and all the guests in the Haven suite will be expected to stay together for boarding as you are personally escorted to your suite. You could either check in a little later or choose a spot to meet. Spice H2O at the stern might be less crowded than some place like the atrium.

Really? Wow, I thought for sure she would be able to stay with him if he was not able to check in with us. Oh well it is what it is.. :D Thanks for the info...

Suite dwellers are not escorted to their suites. A butler will take a big group up to the Haven and dump you there. There is no tour or anything of the like, at least in our past 3 Getaway cruise. They will show you where your room is if you ask, but each guest is certainly not taken personally to their suite. When we had suites outside of the Haven we dropped our carryi on and went on our merry way to lunch.

There is no reason that your DD cannot wait behind. You need to check in as a family, but that is it.

she is not required to board with you. You are also under no obligation to board with Haven folk.

I don't know what ship you are on, but this has been our experience

We had a prescription problem on our last cruise . We all checked in but hubs left and boarded about 90 minutes after us. Haven H7 suite.

You can definitely stay with him, there is nothing saying that you HAVE to board with the escort, etc.

So glad he can join! Please thank him for his service.

Stateroom "keys" are an issue if you want to check-in together. His keycard will not be in the special Haven check-in area although you may be able to arrange it. Otherwise, once checked in, your daughter can wait with him but she will need her keycard to board.

If you want to meet for a non-haven lunch, a MDRs is open and not crowded. Other good places to meet and head elsewhere are places that are closed, such as the casino, as it is empty.

Haven guests have been mentioned on other posts as $25 per dinner, limited to 2 dinners. I have also seen posts saying this is no longer an option. You need to check. The Haven restaurant was wonderful

Have a wonderful cruise!

Just for explanation, as Haven guests, your key cards are located in a private check in area. Your daughter's BF's key card will be located at the gate designated on his boarding documents. The suggestion that he meet you in your suite is the best plan . I envy you having one of the aft corner suites!!!! We absolutely love the huge balcony, and being a Haven guest, you can have the Butler serve you dinner on your deck, and include her BF. In fact, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner served should you choose to do that.

Hope you have a fantastic cruise. And, pass on to the BF my thanks for his service.;)

You CAN all board together.

If you contact the concierge desk (NorwegianConciergeDesk@ncl. com), you can request that the non-Haven guest and the Haven guests board together. His check-in process will be the same as the Haven guests and his stateroom key-card will given to him in the Haven check-in area. He will be escorted along with the rest of the group.

This must be done and approved BEFORE arriving at the terminal.

Hello and thank you, I will be sure to tell him. Although we have been in NCL suites (Dawn) we have never stayed in the Haven so we are SUPER EXCITED. We LOVE LOVE LOVE aft cabins so this was a no-brainer. Thanks again...

They will each have to check in and get their key cards separately (they are not in the same place), but they can meet up after that and board when his number is called.

I've already done it with 2 non-Haven passengers (my mother and sister). The concierge (Adrien) knew their stateroom number and even invited them into the Haven courtyard for a tour. We all knew that my mother and sister would not have Haven access for the duration of the cruise (their first) but the concierge wanted them to see the Haven in hopes that they would book it in the future.

Things change quickly on NCL, so this may no longer be the case, but in March it was $25 and you could have 4 people join you throughout the cruise (some friends in the Haven saved their four guest slots for the last night and a group of us dined together to celebrate a birthday).

I must say and all the times I've stayed in a suite and or the Haven, we have never been to taken to our cabins. We have always been escorted where we have lunch either the haven restaurant or Cagney's/Modornos. However you are correct, as they will have his room key and everything set up for where he is supposed to check in and not in the Haven check in area

With all the different answers you have been given… This is the one I consider most correct.

Most folks will tell you what is written in the NCL by laws on Haven or suites, but in reality I have seen all of those rules bent for me and others. I have not tried to get any one into the haven for dinner though so I cant answer that. We have had non suite or haven guests in the waiting area with us who all boarded together. we also had priority boarding were they let us have friends and family board with us, The butter invited our friends to our room and gave us breakfast and lunch and this was his idea he was awesome. On my last two cruises they let military board first which I think is awesome so I don't think he will have to wait anyhow.

I would suggest calling ahead of time and do not assume anything. Ask if you can all check in together.

Everyone here seems to have different experiences, and the best thing to do would be to contact NCL directly and confirm.

For some reason, this topic comes up over and over with different people giving the complete opposite information...as you can tell! Unless someone HAS actually done this, their answer is just what they think should happen. And also on the other hand, just because someone was able to get their non-haven guest to check in together, does not mean it will happen for you.

Call NCL.

Call NCL.

Even then you may get different responses - on the phone most NCL reps will just quote "the rules." I am another example of someone who has had those "rules" broken for them many, many times because it just made sense in the moment. You will find that it is RARE that an NCL (or even cruise terminal) employee will not go out of their way to accommodate reasonable in-person requests.

They absolutely will (and should) stop folks from really abusing the system/rules (a solo Haven guest requesting that their 4 associated cabins full of relatives get priority boarding in order to get Vibe passes, etc.) But a solo traveler asking if their (also solo) non-suite companion can board with them? Not a problem. Or a Haven family with their (non-Haven) elderly grandparent or one extra non-Haven person? I would be shocked to see this denied face-to-face.

By default, the stateroom key-cards will be in 2 different check-in areas (Haven and non-Haven).

If requested and approved, the stateroom key-cards will be together in the Haven check-in area.

I would suggest calling ahead of time and do not assume anything. Ask if you can all check in together.

If the correct people are contacted and it is approved, it will happen.

Unless someone HAS actually done this, their answer is just what they think should happen. And also on the other hand, just because someone was able to get their non-haven guest to check in together, does not mean it will happen for you.

I can give my experience which was successful. Others may not have been successful. I think some people will "show up" and expect things to be taken care of because they "spoke to someone at NCL....". If the wrong people are contacted or if the NCL rep doesn't follow through, it won't happen.

It isn't guaranteed nor should it be expected. It is a courtesy that may or may not be extended to the non-Haven guest.

That's why different people are expressing different results. While one person may be denied, another may get their request approved.

All that a person can do is ask and hope for the best.

Calling ahead is pointless. The folks working will either let you or not let you and will not care if you called. Plus if you called there going to just read the rule book. Folks on here sometimes I can not believe when they suggest such things seems like either they do not get todays world or hoping they can detour as many folks as they can buy getting them to not do these things lame on both accounts
