No access to the Diamond lounge for diamond members

It wouldn't since the drink package has higher precedence compared to the C&A drinks.

Got it thanks.... the drink packages still work good for us.... however it is something that can always be reconsidered. The put a Club Royal VIP sticker on my Sea Pass but not the SO. So I also had free drinks while playing in the Casino. So who knows, free drinks during cocktail hours in CL and then free drinks in the Casino.... but we still like our Bloody Mary's in the morning and other drinks throughout the day...

I did tip with Cash with the bartenders and it worked well and we got great service.

I also received the survey on smoking in the casino

Another question on the survey was did I know someone called Troy?

Interesting. We didn't receive the survey from Royal but did receive one from Carnival a few weeks back. We have sailed many times on both.

Mainly targeted CR VIP members w.r.t smoking in the casino

One of TROY's crusades to get Royal to ban smoking fleet-wide

Guessing they are looking at how many high rollers $$$ they will lose if they eliminate smoking in casino

Seeing as the casino is the #1 revenue generator along with alcohol

No relevance to Carnival at all

I was just thinking that the cruise lines may eliminate smoking, if all of them agree.

We live in Maryland and will have six casinos shortly and they are all none smoking. Not sure if that is an issue anymore.

I am not sure I qualified under the "NEW" Club rules as explained to me. It will be difficult to qualify on short cruises but I should be back in on our 11 day cruises. I was told that NEW rules, that began last week, apply to those previous CR members but since I wasn't one, not for me to speak about. I can only tell you what the Host told me. I did get a $200 certificate on our door the last night.... but gave me no credit for my play the last night....

I think the day is coming very soon when the Casino will be smoke free. They just started it on Empress. The non-smoking half of the Casino had more people playing than the smoking side. Most of the crew no longer smoke and most don't like the smoke. It will become a worker issue. They were very strict with those that attempted to light up in the non smoking side....

AND GET THIS... The Casino bar was NON SMOKING...

Regarding smoking in the casino

I am a smoker and go into the casino to smoke while gambling.

However, I understand there is NO rational reason for smoking. I would advise all young folks never to start smoking.

For me it is the one simple pleasure I allow myself daily. Growing up in the 40's, 50's & 60's I got hooked on this. It was the norm of the time - if you ever watched Perry Mason in the 50's on reruns you can see how pervasive smoking was.

I applaud all those who have smoked and quit - it is very hard to do.

In the 90's I went on multiple gambling junkets on NCL where they paid for transportation to & from the cruise, the cruise itself, as well as all the perks.

All I did was put $5,000 in the cage and gambled the way I would in any land casino. You could smoke in the casino.

Started cruising on RCL in 2012 and I would rather pay for a cruise on RCL then get a free cruise on NCL.

However, I will not go into the casino if there is NO SMOKING.

It's RCL's ship and they can do whatever they like.

If the ship's become non-smoking I will simply stop cruising.

Currently I cruise 4 months of the year - only when the weather is cold in Virginia.

A great idea and there might not be so many CR VIP after their next cruise based on the new rules.....

Sounds like a very well thought out process.

No business that wants to make profit just gives up on their high $$$ accounts.

Forget about the smoking part, the New CR rules, which will go to phase III very soon and will have an impact on casino revenue.

Lose one high roller dropping $100k, and gain 50 who might drop $100 each to

get a free certificate just won't fly with the bean counters.

Imagine if that $100k bankroll was a smoker;)

I'll continue to stay in Suites, but my spend in the casino will be not on par to what it has been.

And yes D+ and always stay in suites, another one of your gripes:)

Totally agree Graham....I've already stopped gambling anywhere near like I used to...new rules not setting well with me...and if they go N/S they've lost me completely from CR. Oh well...more $$ for suites

Look, most countries have banned smoking in ANY INDOOR PUBLIC AREA, Royal will follow with this soon. Already doing it on Empress.

I agree, many Suite guest are those with good status... I believe that, but many on CC believe that Suite guest or once in a while cruisers.

I enjoy the Casino, even if we don't get a discount on our cabin. However, they take away that discount and it will be harder to convince the SO to endorse my play. I think the new rules are geared more toward the length of time, and points, more than bet amounts or total in bets. I will address this later but was told it takes 1000 play points per cruise to maintain CR VIP status. It matters not how many points you have in your bank. My play was governed toward my time spent in the casino. On a cruise lasting only 4 nights, no sea days, it is much more difficult to gain the play time needed (tables) to gain the 1000 pts....so, since no 1000 pts this past cruise, no longer VIP.... but can change after our 11 day cruise, where it is easier to rack up the points....

The Casino had very limited hours.... for play... I guess if I stayed up all night, I would have been able to reach the 1000 pts for that cruise.

My apologies for this going leftfield on smoking and casino and repeat cruisers staying in suites.

Troy see what happens when you turn every casino thread into a smoking thread;)

I do agree with you on one thing though, Suite guests should get priority in the CL on classes of ships without a SL.

Happy Days!

Only 1000pts to maintain CR VIP status, that's ok then, 4hrs in the casino will ensure that is achieved in the 1st night:D

Hum... explain please ... it looked to me like it was either 50 or 100 pts per hour. Haven't figured it out yet but will on the next cruise.

It very well could be 100 pts per hour (table play) but they finalized it at 8pm the last night of the cruise. Maybe my time on the last night will change my points... don't know. The first port day we were in Nassau until 12pm and the table games didn't open until late. Casino was closed until 7 on Coco Cay day and Key West Day.

How are the pts figured for slots? If is is a point per dollar spent, I would have been well over the 1000 pts but on Tables.

Actually, I believe this was the thread that got this on to a smoking discussion.

I really don't think we are the minority any longer....

Actually my post was 170 which was in response to your smoking post 166. You bought it up - I just asked if you had the survey:rolleyes:

When you first joined CC, I taught you everything you know about CR VIP program, explained in depth how it all worked.

All you wanted to do was moan about smoking:rolleyes:

I don't think 100pts an hour is an algorithmic formula used to accumulate points.

I bet $100 a hand, you bet $10 a hand and we both get 100pts for an hours play.

Don't think so somehow.

Slots is 1pt for every $5, told you that months ago.

You probably still did not hit the 1000pts;)

For the rest of the posters who may not have had the survey, and like coffee, one of the questions was about Coffee Houses. When I did not select a coffee house /brands as one I purchase I was specifically asked why I didn't buy that brand. Wonder if they are thinking of switching from Starbucks:confused:

I mention this as DL coffee is one of the things discussed here

Why don't you just get me started on Smoking.... LOL I think you enjoy the ride.... and, when I do my Casino post, smoking wasn't that bad in the Casino and Royal did a great job policing it... it has it's own side... and the cleaned out quickly... I was told that Empress is now NO SMOKING in Casino... a trial maybe?

This was a joke towards John.... Some like to think I am against Status... I am not.... I have explained that before.... It was not intended to start a smoking thread. Actually, the smoking in the Casino on Enchantment was managed well and they must have a better ventilation system then other ships or maybe it was because we had a lower number of cruisers aboard. There was no smoking in the Casino bar which was a change.

John thinks I have a problem with P's in the CL, I don't. I have an issue with very loud people.. Don't care what status they are. You could tell the type..... people with real money don't generally talk about it....

I am sure we will see a picture of Bella soon;)

The casino loves my fake money, as most of the time it was theirs in the first place.
