I'm in a last minute panic.

Tomorrow my family is scheduled to be aboard the Mercury for the 10 day Mexican Riviera trip out of San Diego. My problem is this . Since tomorrow is Halloween, will my two darling children be allowed to trick or treat, cabin to cabin?

I understand that not many will have treats so they will enjoy the tricks I'm sure, but I told them if they go out late enough they would be able to get some of those yummy chocolates that they leave on the pillows. Also, might they be able to go to the crews quarters?I'm sure they must have snacks in their cabins, or at least be willing to share some of their tip money.

My little darlings will just refuse to go on this cruise if they can't trick or treat. They have their little hearts set since I made them the most fabulous costumes.Chatsworth is going to be Ken Jennings, because he's so smart, and Angel,is going to be Charlize Theron, because she's so beautiful and talented.

The reason I'm asking for help is that I know for a fact that Celebrity does not celebrate EVERY holiday.I was on a 4th of July cruise and you can imagine my kiddies disappointment when there were no fireworks on board. Well ...I guess it's because it's a Greek owned line.

Then too, you can imagine the horror we felt to learn that there was no groundhog on board for our Feb. 2nd cruice last year. How would we ever know how many more weeks of winter were to come?!

No, Celebrity doesn't always get it right.Last Christmas, there was an announcement that "Santa had arrived on the ship via a HELICOPTER!" Boy were my precious ones traumatized and confused. It was their understanding that Santa ALWAYS traveled via reindeer sled. When Angel returned home to The Little Genius Learning Center ,I noticed that her pasta sculptures had taken a turn for the worse.

I know it's late, and we may have to chance it ,but is there anyone who knows who I can contact at Celebrity corporate headquarters to complain if we don't get satisfaction. And if we don't, what is the appropriate compensation ?...an upgrade?...a future cruise credit.Or should I just conside sueing? Does anyone know a lawyer who specializes in this kind of case?

For cryin' out loud! What is this world coming to anyway? At least HAL had Santa arrive with his reindeer. One even made it into our cabin and left a trail of graham cracker crumbs trailing across the carpeting. The cabin attendent left it there for the rest of the cruise as a remembrance of such a beautiful holiday! BTW, would you believe they made Santa stop at the fitness spa and workout before he came to greet the kiddies? Sure hope he took a shower before the little ones had to crawl up on his knee! PU :)

Hey, Dr. Fun - I ASSUME that you're joking, but, you might be interested in knowing that we were on Mercury for a Mexican Riviera cruise two years ago over Halloween and they really did it up. Staff and crew wore costumes and makeup in the bars and in the casino, and they decorated the observation lounge with spider webs and ghosts, etc. and had a costume contest. They also had the (few) children on board dress up and they paraded through the dining room and posed for pictures on the grand staircase - it was very cute!

Halloween fell in the middle of our cruise, and it was a formal night to boot, so don't know if they will do anything like that on boarding day. They've got enough to do with normal first-day work without decorating the lounge!

And if you want a lawyer, I'd decline your case but I'm sure somebody would take it on contingency - maybe for a free cruise? ;)

Dr. Fun, wasn't you who started the thread "Are We Spoiling our Kids". If not correct on that, I am pretty sure that you added some negative comments about kids somewhere along the way.

I believe you are egging us on on this thread because you did imply on that other thread that we are the spoiling our kids because we wanted to know details about the cruise for our kids.

I'd like to point out that many parents who come to this board and post specific questions because that want to be prepared and anticipate certain situations. Prepared kids are well behaved kids. Kids may be asking if they will be able to trick-or treat? Parents want to know the answer so they can prepare them for what ever the situation is.

I have posted many times with questions about kids programs, not because I expect the cruise line to cater to my children's every need, but because I am preparing my children for a different situtation than their every day routine.

I have also asked for input from my fellow cruisers advice for parents with kids. While most posters have given me wonderful advice and tid bits, one poster gave me the wonderful advice that I should just leave my kids at home.

Luckily I have been on many cruises myself, most of them when I was a child, so I am knowlegible enough about the generalities of cruising to do most of my children's pre-cruise prepartion with-out having to ask too many questions.

However there are newbies who need a lot of answers and they should not be made fun of because thier questions pertain to the children's program. I didn't notice you making fun of adults who like to dress up for Halloween and asking if there would be a costume ball. I've seen many post about adults dressing up. Or adults asking if the dining room is open during the day, or adults asking about the martini's or wine list. Why should questions pertaining to kids be treated any differently?

Celebrity does cater to families. They try to provide a fun activities for both kids and relaxation for parents.

It seems that either you don't like kids or you don't like irresponsible parents. If it is the latter, I am in agreement with you, if it is the first may I remind you that unless you were created in Dr. Frankenstien's Laboratory(a little Halloween humore there) you too were once a kid.

ROFL!!! Now I'm wondering how the Easter Bunny gets to the ship over all that water...

Silly rabbit; he hops on his tremendously large feet that function the same as pontoons.

So he can bring chocolate bunnies, jelly beans and peeps to Angel and Chatsworth.

Too funny!! Really enjoyed this one. Too many people take this kind of stuff too seriously.

I'm sure that the captain will let Chatsworth and Angel steer the ship for a while instead of going trick or treating. It's actually a cost-cutting move on Celebrity's part. After the children are done steering, no one will be able to eat dinner I'm sure.

Happy Halloween. I guess this was the trick part of "trick or treat".

You had better not send little Ken and adorable Charlize around to our cabin. We hate kids and Halloween, and it is a pretty good bet if they show their stinking little faces around our door they'll spend the rest of the evening locked in the bathroom or out on the balcony.

There is no way I would ever consider giving up one of my pillow chocolates, so, be sure to take your brats elsewhere.
