cruiseerf Posted September 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2016 We have friends who were looking at coming with us on the October 10th Reflection sailing from Rome. 11 days ago Celebrity put the October 10th sailing on HOLD. Meaning No bookings, no changes, no adjustments etc. NADA. Called Celebrity 5 days ago to be told that it was with Yield management or Reservations etc and all was fine? Case in point....There was significant inventory available prior to this HOLD. Why would a revenue deriving company remove the ability for others to book rooms for 11 days....When the ship is not sold out?? 2 days, 3 days looking at loads and yields I understand....But 11? Try and pull up at Celebrity.com the October 10 Rome to Rome sailing? Are you seeing something different? Safe Sails to all!
gold1953 Posted September 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Not showing when I search. Maybe they are looking at changing ports . Are you docking where there are issues. They use the inventory excuse often.. just a go to word until they figure things out
Karynanne Posted September 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2016 We're on this sailing, and IMHO, there may be an itinerary change. Just a hunch... Sent from my iPhone using Forums
grandgeezer Posted September 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2016 This cruise shows up on a big internet travel agency. I didn't look that close but it looked like there was many categories left. I didn't try a dummy booking to see if I could do it.

needmorevacations Posted September 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2016 I'm on this sailing and had been watching it for a possible upgrade. It was really odd. It went from all categories to nothing in maybe 3 stages over the course of 2 days. I was guessing maybe their backend didn't catch a possible oversell of guarantee cabins and now they're doing a shuffle. This was a well priced bargin for guarantee rooms prior to the 'sell out'. Or maybe some rediculous group booking that took it all? Full price suites all went out the same day..
cruiseerf Posted September 8, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) We were once on a Crystal Cruise where it was 1/2 full....2 months out the cruise disappeared from view and correspondence started to come in English and Chinese. Turns out we had a mainland Chinese tour group of 400 onboard. They had never cruised, spoke no English,Paid 1/2 of what we all had and obviously had $$$ but the cruise was a real challenge as they smoked everywhere, spit in the bathroom sinks and generally did not have the basic hygiene....The buffet became a horror as 1 person would hold a table for 10 for 2.5 hours just to see who would come by. The Chinese of US Descent and the Chinese from Singapore and HKG wanted nothing to do with this group, that much was clear. And the pushing to get on and off the ship was aggressive. We were luckily on for the next cruise as well and that was a totally different experience but WOW, how a group can change things up. Hoping for an Itinerary change, but now 12 days out of bookings.....THATS a long time....... something is up for sure.....Too much $$ at stake. Safe sails for all. cruiseerf Posted September 8, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted September 8, 2016 My Travel Agent called today to say that a cruise company usually does Not put an entire cruise on hold for an itinerary change......She said in the cruise contract it clearly states that the cruiselines can alter itineraries at any time for a variety of reasons at will. Still Wondering why this cruise is going on day 13 on "Hold" with no news? Gonna be interesting.... Safe Sails to all!
kevanmia Posted September 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2016 The cruise is probably sold out and they cannot accommodate more reservations. Sometimes groups can come in last minute and take whatever was left. Sorry if you will not be able to make it!
