Halifax taxi at pier questions

We will be in Halifax on Oct 25 and would like to visit Peggy's Cove. Are there taxis at the pier that would take us there and wait for us? There are two of us. Or possibly a tour we could sign up for when we get there?

At that time of year I don't know what the weather would be and don't want to commit to a tour ahead of time.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hi Laura B,

Please consider renting a car. We did that last month when we were there. Halifax is an easy city to drive around, it just isn't very congested. Once out of town you have a very pleasant drive in the country and along the coast to Peggy's Cove.

Having the car will allow you to take your time, maybe stop for lunch (it is always very busy at Peggy's Cove) at one the small towns along the route. Take a different route along the coast on the way back.

Because we had the car we were also able to visit the Citadel in the center of Halifax, there might be other things that would interest you more. The price of the car rental would certainly be less than the taxi cost to go to Peggy's Cove and return and you won't feel rushed.

have a great cruise

p.s. forgot to mention...car rental places are about a 5-10min. walk from the port

Hi Laura

In 2015 we hired a taxi from the pier at $60 per hour.. There were 3 or 4 waiting there and as we wanted to see Peggy's Cove and Fairview Cemetery we asked for 3 hours, which was plenty, with a look at the Citadel on the way out. The taxis take 6/7 and we were 6 so it worked out fairly cheap on a per person basis - if you can find 4 others. All the best, Tony
