Dawn 1 nighter mini review

Hey guys! Bare with me if I suck at this, this is my 2nd review. We got to the pier I say around 11-11 30 (no traffic coming from PA) After boarding we headed to our room, 5012. To the Venetian(sp?) for lunch. I had the spaghetti vernese(sp?) w/ garlic bread, My brother and cousins all had the cheeseburgers. service was kinda slow, food was good though.

We headed to the oasis pool for some drinks. 8 bucks for a pina colada was a little rough, but hay, I was on a 1 day vacation as Ricky said so what the hell!! My brother and Fiancee spend close to 100 on beer alone.

The muster drill was fun hahah we were all a little tipsy laughing at one another. After the drill we headed back to the oasis pool for the sailaway party. I must admit I got a lil teary eyed during Proud to Be an American and watching the Statue of Liberty. The bbq brought back alot of memories from my last cruise and the excitement really started to kick in.

We had some first time cruisers with us and they were in all in awe of the Dawn.

Second City was good. They reminded me of the show "whos line is it anyway?" Bollywood played in the stardust theater, we seen this show on our last cruise so we skipped out. We decided to eat dinner at the Garden City cafe..didn't feel like sitting in Venetian half the night. I always enjoyed the buffet so to me everything was really good.

A fe wmore drinks and to Dazzles we went. Not sure who the band was I'm thinking Fire and Ice. who ever they were that girl could sing!!! Was getting hungry after a bit and we headed to the good old blue lagoon for some potatoe skins and wings. MMmmm I really did miss this boat.

Rythm Explosion were performing in Spinnakers.. that Ricky can dance. The DJ was palying inbetween and The South beach Fiesta w/ Modal Magic began at 12 15am. We all danced and had a good time. My cousin and I even got in the shodow box and danced. At around 1am the sea sickness got to me :( I had to run to my room and that was it for my night.

Overall I really had a GREAT time. The first time cruisers were depressed about going home, gees they are in for a rude awakening when they get home from the week cruise this coming May. The entertainment was good. The CD, Ricky Matthews is full of enrgy seems like a nice guy, though I wish Colin was there. This 1 nighter just got me and the rest of my family even more pumped for the May 06 cruise!! Can't wait. Anyone else going onthe May27th cruise??? haha

Nice review!!! Wondered what a 1 night cruise would be like. More than likely I will never take on since a port is more than 600 miles from home in any direction.

Hearing about the potato skins at Blue Lagoon made me hungry and more excited about my cruise on the Jewel in just two weeks.

I sure you have an advantage being on the Dawn before, you didn't have to run everywhere exploring the ship.

Glad to here you had fun !!!

  • 2 weeks later...

I was on this one nighter as well. We had a great time.. having just been on the dawn earlier this year in may, and during her inaugural season we felt very at home!! Le Bistro was excellent as always!!!! The casino was more crowded than I have ever seen it, they actually had two craps tables going at one point which I have never seen!!! One night is too short on the dawn though.. we wanted to stay for another week!!!

We are looking into doing a 1 night cruise next year, did you really feel the motion that much? I have friends that are worried about that. I really didn't think it would be an issue not going all the way out ......

Thanks for the review.

I wouldn't worry about it. Tell them not to drink too much

I agree, sounds more like a "drinking sickness" than

sea sickness.

We would have to be having really bad seas(weather) for the ship to have a bad one nighter!

I'm sure your friends will love it:)

We have hit bad seas on cruises...but still go back. Nothing like it;)

The good more than makes up for the bad,
