Passport question

Is it necessary to take your passport with you when you leave the ship to go to the beaches in Grand Cayman or Cozumel. Thanks.

You will get lots of opinions on this. We always take ours but we leave a copy of our pp in our cabin safe. The state department recommends you do this because in the event your pp is lost or stolen, it helps get it replaced.

No...none of the Caribbean countries require passports from cruise passengers at all.

I never take my passport ashore. Too much chance of loss / theft. Just take your Driver's License / ID and your Cruise Card and you will be fine. I have never been asked for a Passport in any Caribbean Country or when returning to the ship.
