I'm so glad to hear you had a great time. We leave next Thursday and I am very excited for this cruise. What did you like most about your cruise? How was the entertainment?

Yes, I am sure that there is somebody recently back from the Ecstasy. (-:

Do you have an actual question about the Ecstasy, its itinerary, etc.?

And luckily someone responded to my post so I can hopefully get some information on how they liked their cruise.

Benjamin, the Cruise Director was great, high energy, kept things upbeat and lively. Loved Half Moon Cay, not sure what your itinerary is. Did the Behind the Fun tour, great getting to see all of the crew areas and the things that go on below deck that you usually don't think about. Best dining room staff in 14 cruises, fast friendly and very efficient in their work. Only thing I did not like, cabin steward only offered once a day service, we had to choose AM or PM.

How would you rate the overall quality of the food? If you don't mind me asking what was the cost of the behind the scenes tour? We have the same itinerary as you and I can hardly wait for Half Moon Cay. BTW were all the elevators working?

Food was fine, never had an issue finding something that I liked. Lines could get long for breakfast. The tour was 55$ and is done on the sea day on the way back to Charleston.

sadiecat, We've been seeing one another on here for several months both looking forward to our Ecstasy cruises. Can't believe the time has finally almost arrived. Hope you have everything all lined up & have a wonderful cruise! We'll be embarking as you disembark. :)

I was a little concerned a few months ago with my husbands negativity towards the ship but that has since subsided and I am sure we will have a wonderful time. Hope you have a great time.

Just back yesterday, please ask questions.

What is embarkation like? We have 11:30 check-in time thank goodness. How was the appearance of the ship? I know it is an older ship but I was curious if it appears run down. Did you visit the casino and was it very busy? Did the elevators work? I had read that often they weren't all operating. I am on a scooter and I know how much people dislike them but it is what it is and I have to have one. At least I am out there instead of sitting home feeling sorry for myself. Was the ship crowded?

I don't see what difference it makes. 2 people can be on the same ship, same sailing, but 1 will like it but the other won't. You can judge it on Thursday. If you look, you'll find negative things. If you enjoy cruising with family and enjoy the art of cruising, then all will be fine.

We had 1:00 embarkation, it was smooth and easy. You just go from check in, to security, to getting your S & S card. We were on board by 1:45. The ship is surprisingly beautiful. Everything was clean, bright and pretty. We do not do casinos so I can't answer that one. I hate the smell of smoke in that area. Elevators was my big complaint. The forward elevators were really slow. We were on deck 7 and used the atrium elevators the most. Just be patient. Not crowded must of the time, pizza was very slow, I never had it. Dinners were wonderful. The staff was fantastic throughout. We had a great time.

We cruised September 3rd on the Ecstasy. We had 11:30 check in time also. BUT, the check in times are Charleston were king of usueless. Charleston doesn't open the parking gate until 11:30, unless they are delayed for some reason. Parking and the terminal size is limited, so the other cruise have to be completely disembarked and gone before they let the new cruise park and embark. Ours was delayed about an extra 45 minutes due to the ship arrivign late due to the tropical storm. They may pay attention to later check in times, but I didn't notice anyone being turned away.

I visited the casino. It seemed to be least crowded on this cruise compared to any cruise that I have ever been on.

The glass elevators in the atrium where down the last afternoon for maintance. These were the only ones down during our cruise.

The ship is older, but is in great shape. There are minor rust spots ad cosmetic issues here and there, but nothing to make it a "bad" trip.

The food was great. The good thing about cruising is if you don't like something, tell the wait staff and order something else.

Yes, it is an additional generator that was added after the Triumph incident. I think that these will be moved to the interior of the ship during the next extensive dry dock.

Speaking of dry dock, I'm super excited to be on the Ecstasy next February right after her dry dock in January! According to other threads on here, she'll be getting Alchemy, Guy's, Blue Iguana, and probably a few other changes here and there - besides the usual maintenance, new carpet, etc. Hopefully they fix the elevators too. On my May cruise on her they were scary.
