Raxter54 Posted September 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2016 DW and I have an aft balcony on the Freedom in February. Turns out our son is off work at the same time Wondered if Carnival would allow us to add him to our booking (he could sleep on the couch )? And if they do, would he pay full fare, or would it be a reduced rate? Thanks! Sent from my Galaxy
Xyla Posted September 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2016 If your particular cabin is rated for 3 or more persons and they haven't reached maximum lifeboat capacity in that section, you should be able to add him. Otherwise, you may have to switch to a different cabin that holds 3. 3rd/4th passengers have a reduced rate.
suzycruiser2 Posted September 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2016 You can probably add him if your cabin is designated as one that sleeps three AND they have not reached their capacity limits. 3rd and 4th passengers are USUALLY cheaper than 1st and 2nd, but not always. Do a mock booking and see what rates is shows as available. Sometimes it may even be cheaper to book a 2nd cabin (inside) than add to the balcony rate. If so, he may even be interested and taking along a friend.

Raxter54 Posted September 20, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted September 20, 2016 I thought I raised intelligent children. Told DS "Hey, since you're off work during that time, we'll change cabins and pay the extra $361 ourselves so you can go on a week long Caribbean Cruise in the middle of winter". His answer - "Nah, wouldn't find anything interesting to do." Kids these days... Sent from my Galaxy

To add my 5 year old nephew this past cruise on Magic was the same price. His taxes and gratuities were more than his cruise fare :D:p

Years ago when we went on our first cruise, we tried to get our then college-aged daughter to go, but she didn't want to leave the boyfriend she had at the time. Now years later, she is married with two kids and she would love to go on a cruise. Hindsight - I'm sure she would go back and kick her own butt if she could.:D
Julienatul Posted September 20, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2016 If you have a cabin that allows more than 2 people he can. They specify each cabin for the maximum number of people allowed. Call your travel agent it is worth a try

AdGuyMG Posted September 20, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 20, 2016 could be very noisy area back there on deck 6 I suppose this could be true if they are sleeping in their cabin during the 8PM - Midnight times on the evenings that the lounge below is offering entertainment. Personally, I'm usually still out and about at those hours on a cruise but do realize there are some early snoozers.
