Sea Legs Posted September 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Anyone know what the chances are that the ship will be able to broadcast the world series playoffs in October?
Coastalbreezes Posted September 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Doubtful. The only sports channel shows soccer pretty much 24/7. Other channels are limited programming. Last year, we watched the Super Bowl but that came in over an international feed. I've never seen baseball on a ship TV. Tracy
tedyb Posted September 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Was on RCCL Halloween last year and watched the World Series on the room tv and the NFL on the big screen over the pool. (NE/NYJ, Sun, BAL/ARI, MON and NE/MIA on Thu night)
LrgPizza Posted September 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2016 We watched the World Series on the Escape Transatlantic last year. It's never guaranteed, but certainly possible.
pathubia Posted September 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Anyone know what the chances are that the ship will be able to broadcast the world series playoffs in October? You should be able, we have watched baseball, hockey and football while on cruises.... We will be on the Dawn the week the World Series starts, there will be mutiny on the ship if the Red Sox make it to the series and it isn't shown!! dogboy Posted September 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2016 It's random what and when they show major sports events but I would say your chances are Good to Very Good.
Sea Legs Posted September 20, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Thanks for the feedback. I live in Atlanta, so we obviously aren't involved in post-season play, but always enjoy the playoffs and the series!
mugtech Posted September 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 21, 2016 In 2011 we saw the world series on the large screen in the atrium on the Gem.
ejnsb Posted September 21, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 21, 2016 if it is a two month old soccer match you want to see, you are in luck. Saturday on the Getaway (when dozens of college football games are aired) every tv in O'Sheehan's was tuned to a rerun of a soccer match followed by soccer news followed by another replay... you get the idea Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Fishymom Posted September 21, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2016 We were able to watch all the games (Go Royals) BUT.... only in our rooms or the casino bar. Really hoped for the big screen.:(
Duff Man Posted September 21, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 21, 2016 In 2014 we were on Getaway and the WS was on every night at the Sunset Bar.
DMH15 Posted September 21, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) On the Sun we got to watch baseball. Last year I cruised on the Jewel on opening day. What was I thinking? I had the unlimited internet and watched on my IPAD with MLBTV. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited September 21, 2016 by DMH15
tedyb Posted October 15, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Was on RCCL Halloween last year and watched the World Series on the room tv and the NFL on the big screen over the pool. (NE/NYJ, Sun, BAL/ARI, MON and NE/MIA on Thu night)Update: Cruised on NCL Sky this week, Mon thru Fri. No baseball coverage at all. Did not try to find MNF but watched TNF in the Sports Bar. Didn't learn of the Boston Red Sox' fate until we docked in Key West on Thursday. IOW, lousy tv on board. I don't watch much tv at all, but a baseball or football game on in the background can catch my attention.
CruisinMaterial Posted October 16, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 16, 2016 Anyone know what the chances are that the ship will be able to broadcast the world series playoffs in October? This is a resounding yes. The games will be broadcast on all NCL ships as they have bought the rights to broadcast them. It will be on Channel 30 on some ships. Not sure if that's fleetwide or not. Hope that helps. Go to a sports bar on the ship (or O'Sheehans if newer)! :)
Cruiser Who Knows Nothing Posted October 16, 2016 #16 Share Posted October 16, 2016 This year FoxSports owns October baseball, it used to be Turner Broadcasting, so anything that has happened on the past is pretty much irrelevant. cmdchiefthom Posted October 16, 2016 #17 Share Posted October 16, 2016 Several years ago, on a Caribbean run, we watched three games of the World Series in the Sports Bar on the Sun. I just remember the Cardinals were playing.
