Back-up plans = another question

For those of you who do make back-up plans, how do you go about it?

You can't possibly book 2 tours & just not go on one. (That wouldn't be fair to the vendor or other people for whom that was their plan A & they can't do it because it is being held as your plan B.)

Since my Plan B's right now appear to be last minute type plans, I guess it doesn't matter, but it keeps me thinking! & I appreciate your answers - maybe your answers can steer me towards other Plan B ideas.

What I do is a bunch of internet research to find alternatives for last minute plans for what I want to see and find the where, what, when and the cost. Things like the totem park in Ketchikan and the little train that will take you there - I will find the route, where to catch it, how much for the train and any admission fees. There is a bus to the Mendenhall Glacier that is very reasonable so I had all that info also if my tour did not fly. TI do consider the research as part of the fun before a cruise!

Also check the port sites on CC to see what other people may suggest.
