What's a good short term cruise?

You get what you pay for. For what you're asking (price etc.) with Carnival it'll be one of the older ships that do the 5 day cruises. Nothing wrong with them just not with all the bells and whistles.Still get fine dining, shows, casino, and nightclubs and some of the cruises have great ports. (Grand Turk and HMC)

Not True.... we just did the Liberty on the 5-day itinerary and it has all the 2.0 upgrades and ship looks great. In fact, as far as decor and crew go, it is now our favorite ship.

And as far as price goes... it was pretty cheap, too. Galveston is a good port for that reason, flying into Houston and cheaper cruises, good crews and other passengers have good southern manners.

And as far as itinerary goes.... Cozumel is about the easiest port stop to have. No need for an excursion, if you just want beach and shopping and food... lots and lots of beach clubs, like Money Bar, are free and just want you to buy something from menu, even just bottled water if you want. Snorkel or swim, eat really good food, shop, back on boat. Progreso is a great place to visit "Colonial" or "Mayan" Mexico. Easy excursions to Merida or ruins, or just shop and beach. Another cheap stop if you want.

Key West Weather in October

October cools down a little with an average high temperature of 84° F. You will still find sun bathers at beaches and pools with mostly sunny days and diminishing chances of rain as we move into the fall months. October is a more tranquil month to visit Key West and the weather is usually glorious. The official hurricane season ends on November 30th but active storm activity usually dies down by October 15th. No named hurricanes or tropical storms affected the Florida Keys in 2013 or 2014. Parrot Key Resort offers a hurricane clause to protect our guests during this period so please inquire within our call center.

Average High Air Temp 84° F (29° C)

Average Low Air Temp 76° F (24° C)

Average Water Temp 82° F (28° C)

Average Rainfall 4.4 inches (11.2cm)

Average Sunset Time 7:13p.m.

HMC would not be significantly different.

Far as temperature we did Cozumel one year in December and did the beach and water was bit cool but got quite comfortable after a little while. I am 25 minutes or so from NOLA port so I like Triumph. Many locals do it often and no complaints.

We are doing the Dream in December and will try the beach in Cozumel again.

Also try to avoid the week before during and after Halloween in New Orleans, flights as well as hotels and stuff higher with Voodoo Fest and other goings on.

I VOTE FOR PARADISE!!! Great ship, and port of Tampa is AWESOME! Super easy to get in and out of ... very close to the airport ... 10 min max unless you hit traffic. There's a walmart in between the airport and port if you want to stop there. Better yet, fly in the day before and enjoy the city of Tampa!

Paradise didn't have the 2.0 upgrades however, it was still an awesome ship ... pool was great, and the food was awesome - we ate dinner in MDR most nights ... we ate in the Lido later at night. Had to wait after midnight for pizza but that's cause it's made to order, and worth the wait to have it hot and fresh.

Go for the FIVE night cruise on the paradise as opposed to the 4 day. Trust me that extra day makes a HUGE difference.

Thankfully I live less than 1 hour away from Tampa so I don't have to worry about flights. I have sailed out of Tampa several times (but not in the last few years) and agree that it is one of the best ports I've sailed from, with Pt Canaveral being right up there too.

I don't normally do 4 day cruises, but this is just a girls kind of getaway with some family members. This will be my 3rd cruise this year - the others were 8 and 7 days. The only reason I could do so many cruises is because of Pack N Play rates and the fact that I live in central Florida, close to lots of ports, so no travel expenses involved. As soon as those casino rates go away, it will be back to one cruise per year & at least 7 day cruises.

Glad to hear you liked the Paradise. I'm pretty easy to please and have never had a bad cruise - not even close. I'm sure I will love the Paradise!!

What's a good deck on the Fantasy class, we were on deck 10 on the conquest, deck 2 for the Breeze, deck 7 on the Valor, booked on deck 12 for the Magic in a spa balcony and I think 5 or 7 for the Vista right in the Havana area, so what's better for the fantasy class I know mid ship but is there a better deck for this class?

I've sailed a bunch of Fantasy class ships.

Fantasy, Sensation, Ecstasy and 6 times on Elation.

I especially like the eating area behind the buffet dining room and the Serenity deck right on the back of the ship. The serenity is wonderful.

I like deck 8.

It is also a good for an easy debark.

From deck 8 aft it is easy and quick to get to the Serenity deck.

Mobile is a nice place and easy to sail from.

Plus it is close to beaches and has some cool things to see and do.

We sailed out of Mobile 6 times and the crew and passengers were always friendly and laid back.

However, I am going to suggest Triumph out of New Orleans.

You know, it's New Orleans! Triumph is much like the Fantasy class in being easy to get around, but has additional included eating areas.

It has a rear pool, in addition to the "lido' pool, that has a roof that closes for bad weather.

Plus, if you don't have a balcony there is an area on the deck below the lifeboats, 3 I think, with deck chairs looking out to sea. It is a quiet spot good for cloud watching, reading and napping.

We have done 3 trips on Triumph and would not hesitate to go on Triumph again.

That's what my PVP suggested, only downside is they don't have a serenity deck

But it has those deck chairs on the side.

I love those deck chairs.

Last time we had a big extended aft balcony, but during the day it got really hot and we migrated down to those side deck chairs.

Most people have no idea that they are even there.

The serenity area on Fantasy class is wonderful too.

I just want to sit where I can see the water.

My PVP says they should have a 50 deposit on Monday how's Progresso I would love to go to HMC or Key West. I also don't want to pay a lot for airfare as well

Progreso is fine.

If you have any interest in Mayan ruins it is the place to go.

I would suggest Dzibilchaltun or Uxmal.

Dzibilchaltun is close, impressive and a good place to take kids.

But not just for kids by any means.

Uxmal is glorious. Huge pyramid, many other buildings, stuff to climb, green hills, and no peddlers. If you will only ever go to one Mayan site, go to Uxmal.

Or ride the bus into Merida.

(You can go to Chichen Itza, but the bus ride is longer than the tour)

Check out AutoProgreso tour company.

You can also just go sit on the beach for free.

And if you want some souvenirs, get them in Progreso.

They have a good selection and lower prices.

In Progreso it seems like sometimes the beach is nice and sometimes it is not.

It is not a Caribbean beach.

You want Cozumel to be your beach day, definitely, because they have the white sand and turquoise water.
