dcedar Posted September 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2016 So I will be in Belize for the first time next January. I am thinking none of the offered excursions jump out at me. When I get into Belize will there be $20ish tours that last a couple hours and take us to various 'hotspots'??? We did one in Grand Cayman and it was one of the best tours that we have been on. Walked off the ship and saw a little shed selling tours. It was a 2 or 3 hour tour. The driver/guide took us through neighborhoods and pointed things out to us, told us stories, and answered any questions asked. We stopped a few places and stayed long enough but not too long. Will there be people selling tours in port? I don't want to do beaches or water things. I just want to see the country and visit the photo op spots:) I also don't want to 'just walk around port'. I don't need to see diamonds, purses, shoes, or sheets that I know I am not going to buy, not my thing:) Any 'off the beaten path' things I should be on the look out for? Rare crewsweeper Posted September 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Walk outside the tender pier terminal and find a horse drawn carriage tour of Belize City. Not sure what they charge now, but very inexpensive and no need for a reservation. There aren't too many "hot spots" in Belize City, it's a working town. But the driver will take you around and show you the sites. Buy him/her lunch at their favorite local spot or go to Anna's Lunchbox or Nerie's. Pyrate13 Posted September 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2016 I second crewsweepers post. We've done this a couple of times with a fellow that calls himself Quincy Jones (I know, right?). Great guy, very friendly and knowledgeable about the country. Answered any questions we had. Just ask the carriage guys for him. You may have to wait a while if he is already out on a tour.
