kimberlym4 Posted September 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2016 If the activity (Love and Marriage, comedians) is listed as 18 and over, does that mean they will swipe cards to check people's ages or is it up to parents to decide if they want to bring someone younger in? SadieN Posted September 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) Only a few places where Carnival checks ID- the Disco. Other places under 18 will be asked to leave- Serenity, Casino and maybe the adult comedy. Comedy depends on how young they are. No ID check for the L&M show. The L & M game can get extremely R rated, one recent answer was, 'we made love while her parents were in the next bed'. A famous question asks 'if you had a parrot in your bedroom, what would it say? Only you can decide if it's appropriate for your children. The adult show comedians use all of George Carlin's 'Seven Words You Can't Say on TV'. We've seen young kids (with their parents) asked to leave the adult show and also obnoxious 14yo roaming on their own. simplelife Posted September 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2016 The comedian at an adult show on one of our recent cruises stopped his monologue and asked that a kid they spotted In the audience be taken out of the show. Another time the emcee asked a family to leave (or for the parents to return without the teenagers) befor the comedian came on. Zoey Posted September 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2016 One night at an adult comedy show on a Breeze cruise a woman on the front row had a couple of children approximately 8 to 10 years old, so I guess they did allow them in. Early in the show the comedian was coming to the end of a punch line when he stopped and said to the audience that he usually uses the "f" word there, and in many other places, but there were young children in the room. He asked the audience's opinion about whether he should not use the word or if the parent should just take the children and leave. The room erupted in shouts of "use the word!" or "take the children out!" so he continued on with his routine and used it several times. I guess I was not that surprised the mother stayed there with her children through the whole show because I'm sure it's a word they had heard before BUT there was also MUCH more adult content regarding sex, etc., than just the "f" word. Schoifmom Posted September 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2016 I have seen Comedy Club hosts actually card people for the adult-only show.
kimberlym4 Posted September 26, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Thanks for your input everyone. My 17 1/2 year old son will be with us and is probably as able to handle the content as a boy 6 months older than him. Just wasn't sure if he would be prevented by Carnival from entering. Not sure he will even be interested in things like the Love and Marriage show - but we are (it is very funny) and just wanted to know our options. Elaine5715 Posted September 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2016 I happen to be very amused by the comedians who ratch up the vulgarity when they see children with parents in the audience at the Adults Only shows.
