Booking Cruise when on a cruise

I plan to book my next cruise while I'm on my upcoming cruise but I wanted to know what discounts are offered if I book?!? is it just OBC only? Or cheaper rate per person? Any tips would be appreciated. [emoji5]

We have done this 2 or 3 times and only got the onboard credit. But because we knew we were going to take those cruises anyway the OBC was like a bonus.

Occasionally, you'll get a reduced deposit along with the OBC. Usually it's the same promotions that run on the Carnival website, the OBC, & the vouchers for friends and family to join your sailing with the addition of OBC.

It never changes ... OBC based on the length of the cruise that you book.

 

$50 USD per stateroom on a 3, 4 or 5 day cruise

$75 USD per stateroom on a 6 day cruise

$100 USD per stateroom on a 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 day cruise

$200 USD per stateroom on a 12 day cruise or longer cruise

 

As far as tips are concerned -- get to the FC desk early in your cruise before you have to spend half of your cruise standing in line.

And good luck trying to do this - we went to the desk on our recent cruise on the Paradise (just outside of the smoking section to the casino, sadly!), and learned that there were very, very limited hours. We tried multiple times during our 5 day cruise, but either there was no one there, or there was a huge line. We had picked out our upcoming cruise and everything - we were ready to book - and were unable to do it. I guess we could have just waited for an hour or more, but after several 15 minute waits, we had stuff to do.

 

We're booked now, but it would have been nice to have received the OBC.

i have stood in that line many times. Now i have learned that many of them have a form you can just fill out and leave with them. They book it at at night or when he has time and then forwards the information to my room. You must know exactly what you want the the floor and area of the room you want for this. I wish all ships would do this but the last couple I have been on did have it.

We always check the cruise for a few days before we book, so we know what to expect and what rooms are available. But we also book the first or second day to avoid the lines.

I'm sorry about what happened.

 

My experience has been that the desk's hours have been listed in the Fun Times. Sometimes they also had operating hours listed in a sign on the desk. As others have said, the lines tend to be shorter earlier in the cruise.

Just off the Breeze last week.

The OBC is the only benefit, but it is better than nothing and you do get those vouchers for friends and family so they can join you. Every little bit helps.

 

You can only book the Carnival product while onboard a Carnival cruise. Even though Carnival owns several other brands, you can still only book Carnival.

 

There is a session you can attend on one of the last sea days that will go over the entire program in detail, but if you wait until then, you will stand in long lines at the future cruise desk. There is only one person and the hours are limited. Yes, they are posted in the Fun Times, but they are still limited.

 

We decided not to book since the other restriction we noticed was that you really need to know what cruise you want. There is some flexibility to change but it appeared you had to sail by the date you booked onboard.

 

Carnival advertises incentives so often that we found we had almost the same deal booking on shore as we would have received on board. By almost I mean we had a $50 OBC and would have received a $100 OBC. Everything else was the same in terms of price.

Actually, I always book a sleeper cruise. I book a short cruise at the past guest rate and once I decide what I actually want to do, I change it. The only restriction is that you have to change it before the final payment date. It really pays to understand Carnival's rate types and the associated rules. Also, had you booked on board, it would have been ADDITIONAL OBC, not instead of the current deal.
