ALANG Posted October 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Staying at the Hampton Suites Brickell. Looking for recommendations for a Cuban restaurant.
Miramar Posted October 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Havana 1957 is within walking distance on South Miami Ave in the Brickell neighborhood. They have a few locations in the Miami area--I've eaten at the Espanola Way location and liked it quite a bit. If you don't mind driving or taking a cab I always like Versailles on SW 8th St.
Lido_Deck Posted October 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Staying at the Hampton Suites Brickell. Looking for recommendations for a Cuban restaurant. Versailles is recognized as the premier Cuban restaurant, but as Miramar said you would need to take a cab.
Capt_BJ Posted October 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) Ver' rides on old reputation and is FAR from the best Cuban food in Miami I'd ask at the front desk where THEY recommend ..... where to THEY buy their take out??? Cuban is not 'unique' in Miami ... it is 'family food' you'll get the BEST from the lil mom'n'pop around the corner!!!! (dw's office was blocks from Ver' for a while (years) ..... it was a place we'd go to, but not our FAV place) if desk does not give a strong recommendation, walk to 1957 (my fav' is La Carreta with several locations around the city ... but none downtown that I know of) Edited October 7, 2016 by Capt_BJ
BlueHerons Posted October 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) You'll find ten times as many Cuban restaurants in Miami as you'll find diners. In other words, as Capt BJ said, Cuban food is regular food in Miami. Havana 1957 is my current favorite and there is one on Brickell near your hotel. They should also have live music until 2am or so. I certainly would not go out of my way to go to Versailles. Maybe Carolyn will chime in, she is a Brickell local.
