Justaddvodka68 Posted October 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Wow! I was just checking on ship tracker and Victory is just north of Ft. Lauderdale right now. You'd think they'd be hauling it back to Cape Canaveral.
RoadTripFanatic Posted October 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2016 I thought Cape Canaveral port is currently closed to all boats.
denasims170@gmail.com Posted October 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2016 This makes me go "HMMMM". What will they do with the port being closed?
put me on a ship Posted October 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Victory disembarked all passengers on Wednesday, and is sailing empty. Port Canaveral is closed, and all vessels had to be removed yesterday.
Gamecock_Cruiser Posted October 6, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2016 During this storm, I leaned that a lot of APPS and internet maps don't show the actual location, but where the location SHOULD be based on the itinerary. So I doubt the Victory is really there right now. The app I have showed the Ecstasy in the Bahamas yesterday even though they were clearly docked in Cozumel. Just AN FYI of what I learned. Marine Traffic seems to be the most current website, as long as the vessel is in range for signal to be picked up.

Oh, I have been using http://www.cruisemapper.com/ which has shown the ships that have diverted in their new locations. I thought it was GPS tracking. I see now. shipbound2 Posted October 6, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2016 I would think CCl will move all their ships from the ports along the East coast of Florida out to sea. It seems to me that ships would sustain more damage in port than at sea, Don't you think?. Gary

Also do not trust the accuracy of AIS tracking unless you are paying for it. The storm is moving at 12 mph. Victory can certainly out run it. Athankfulheart Posted October 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 6, 2016 John Heald reported a message from Brandon, the CD of Victory that they are sailing in the area of the keys and are outside of the hurricane. They intend to be back in PC on Friday. Hopefully they will find a mostly intact port.
