Badwolf515 Posted October 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) My husband and I have booked our first princess cruise for next year (Alaska cruise on the Ruby Princess). My brother and his wife are booking the room next to ours. Both rooms are Aft balcony rooms on the Baja deck. Is it possible to remove the balcony divider to make the two balconies into one long shared balcony? Thanks for your help! cruzrbachoua Posted October 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Some if not most have a door than can open but you can not remove the entire divider. You can have the steward open the dividers' door so you can go back and forth but no complete 1 big balcony will always have a wall ...sorry. Kamloops50 Posted October 7, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Between some balconies there is a structural part that doesn't allow the opening of the door between balconies.
Aussie Gal Posted October 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2016 We had the door on our balcony opened last year as our daughter and granddaughter were next door. It was fine until we had strong winds when it blew shut a few times. It was fun though to be able to walk between the two balconies. Pam in CA Posted October 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2016 The divider cannot be removed. It's bolted to the side of the ship. There's a narrow doorway in the divider that can be opened by your cabin steward. It's either open or closed for the cruise as it's secured by the steward when open so it doesn't move or bang. The door isn't wide enough to combine the balconies but is wide enough for someone to go from one balcony to the other. As long as the first number of your cabins is the same, the door can be opened. If the number goes from 6xx to 7xx, for instance, there's a fire door and fire wall between the cabins. This'll give you an idea of the width of the door. bigchid Posted October 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Pam is normally spot on, but... Sorry Pam We were in C535 and C601 on Ruby with a fire door in the hallway and our balcony door did in fact open. We were concerned because we had heard about the fire door thing and were pleasantly surprised.

I get very tired of the same incorrect information being posted here over and over and over again. This post has a cool picture attached. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=41987612&postcount=12 Edited October 8, 2016 by pablo222
