Pandabear90 Posted October 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2016 So I am booked on Anthem with a Guaranteed Balcony. They assign me "Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony (Smaller Balcony) Room 6536 I'm thinking that is a "D8" room? So I can switch to any other D8? Clarea Posted October 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2016 6536 looks like a D8 to me too. It's also a connecting stateroom, and that would be a reason to change for us. If you booked under US/Canadian rules, they will normally allow you to change to another available D8. Just contact whoever booked your cruise and request the change. Don't mention the guarantee. Good thinking. I found a room on the 8th floor that is not connecting. Should I worry about noise or anything? That's only if I'm on the 6th floor right? Pandabear90 Posted October 10, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted October 10, 2016 Lol, so I started out with an interior room. Switched to a obstructed balcony for $100 less. Rolled the dice with guaranteed on another reservation and got a D8, but $100 more. So basically I got a D8 balcony for interior room price lol???! Clarea Posted October 10, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2016 What is the negative about having connecting staterooms? Sound transmission from the other room is "enhanced". In other words, if your neighbors are quiet, there's little difference. However if your neighbors are noisy, you will be able to hear that sound much better through a connecting door. Its not the door that enhances noise its the idiot neighbors that enhance the noise. Dont blame the poor ship
GrammyJill Posted October 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2016 How can you see what rooms are available? I've been trying to on my own Gty booking but cant figure it out. Good luck!
Rare silentbob007 Posted October 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2016 Furniture in the connecting cabin may be affected because well ... there's a door instead of a wall. For instance, you may get a "half" couch rather than a full one.

GrammyJill Posted October 11, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 11, 2016 So if they assign you & you find another cabin open how would you go about switching cabins?

nivek82 Posted October 11, 2016 #13 Share Posted October 11, 2016 I just did this a few weeks ago. As stated go online to find open rooms then call RCI (if you booked directly) and let them know you want to change. Don't EVER mention it was a gty though. Once done give it about 5 minutes and check online to make sure nothing happened with price, etc and the cabin changed. When I did this since I booked directly I just called C&A and was no problem. GrammyJill Posted October 11, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 11, 2016 That was pretty seamless! I called & stayed in the same category but went up 2 floors & went from a forward to a midship. Not too shabby! Thanks for the advise!
