Lots of people don't make their return flight. As long as you don't TELL them you aren't using your return they can't do anything about it. Airlines are funny about their rules and restrictions - I believe you should be able to do whatever you want with the ticket that you purchased - use it or not.

Don't do it often and DON'T do it on an airline where you have a lot of miles. It is much easier to track you through your mileage account.

Don't use the same airline to book your return, if you're doing an open jaw.

Yes, and no.

 

The best advice has already been given. Don't do it often, and don't telegraph it. Just "vanish". As far as the airline is concerned on that evidence, you simply missed your flight.
