wallygator21015 Posted October 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2016 IMPORTANT INFORMATION CARNIVAL PRIDE OCTOBER 16, 2016 - Sailing October 14, 2016 Dear Carnival Pride Guest, We're sure you are looking forward to your cruise on Sunday so we'd like a moment of your time to provide you some information regarding our itinerary plans. I'm sorry to say, Hurricane Matthew's impact on Grand Bahama was significant. It will take some time to complete the necessary repairs to the local infrastructure. We continue to work closely with our Freeport partners at the port, government and shore side services concerning the recovery efforts from the impact of Hurricane Matthew. For your cruise, we will be replacing our call to Freeport with an overnight call in Nassau. We're sure you'll enjoy the extra time in Nassau. Below is our revised itinerary: DAY PORT ARRIVE DEPART Sun Baltimore, MD 4:30 PM Mon Fun Day @ Sea Tue Fun Day @ Sea Wed Port Canaveral (Orlando), FL 7:00 AM 6:00 PM Thu Nassau, The Bahamas 11:00 AM Overnight Fri Nassau, The Bahamas 4:00 AM Sat Fun Day @ Sea Sun Baltimore, MD 9:00 AM Pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions for Freeport will be automatically refunded to the original form of payment. For information on additional tours in Nassau, please visit the Shore Excursion desk located on Promenade, Deck 2, midship once onboard. We apologize for this change in plans and thank you for your understanding. We can't to welcome you aboard for a fun and memorable cruise. CharlaneOT Posted October 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2016 Gosh, that stinks. I was hoping that y'all would go to a better port, like Key West or Grand Turkey. But to stay in Nassau overnight is kinda boring. Im preparing myself for the same disappointment for our cruise on Nov
tsutton Posted October 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2016 Wow so you are getting an extra sea day instead of port. I thought they had other options already as an alternative. I sail October 30 with the same itinerary and really hope this is not the case. Although I'm happy to be on vacation either way but I would much rather stop at a 3rd port. Not an extra sea day, an extra day at Nassau. I have the same itinerary Nov 6th, i'm hoping this doesn't happen to us, but if I were a placing a bet, this is where I'd put my money :(

I have the same itinerary Nov 6th, i'm hoping this doesn't happen to us, but if I were a placing a bet, this is where I'd put my money :( How is this not an extra sea day if we sail at 4am Friday? We were supposed to be in Nassau til 8pm Thursday. If we leave at 4am Friday....that IS an extra sea day. What is there to do in Nassau between 8pm and 4am? It looked to me like they said the day started at 4am because you have already been there all night. Whatever it is, it is unfortunate.
Micahs Grandad Posted October 14, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2016 Baltimore is the closest port for us but would never even book the original itinerary as it is rather lame. Extra time in Nassau doesnt make it any better. Now if they went to HMC that would be another story:)
wallygator21015 Posted October 14, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted October 14, 2016 Not only is staying in Nassau overnight very boring, but it is also very dangerous after sundown! I agree that they could have picked another Port of Call. Miami, Charleston, Key West, Half Moon Cay, I guess Carnival will refund our Port Charges for Freeport? BroadwayGirl Posted October 14, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 14, 2016 No mention of adjustment of port fees since they are probably spending that money to have us docked while we're all sleeping.....
summersigh Posted October 14, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 14, 2016 With all of the pickpockets and very pushy tour guides/taxi drivers in Nassau it's uncomfortable enough in the daylight - I can't imagine going out after dark
drafterdw Posted October 14, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 14, 2016 No mention of adjustment of port fees since they are probably spending that money to have us docked while we're all sleeping..... they will have to pay extra port fees to Nassau to dock overnite....cross your fin:cool:gers they can grease some palms to keep some things open on ship (casino) Nassau not safest place at night. VALBS Posted October 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 14, 2016 I know we will be back onboard before dark. Nassau is bad enough at night normally. Now it is post hurricane damage and the locals are robbing warehouses. I am not expecting anything from Carnival on this because they retain a lot of "power" with their contract and Itinerary changes. I am however looking at other cruise lines not owned by CCL. That is the choice I have. They made theirs and I will make mine.

RandomUser123 Posted October 14, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 14, 2016 What additional tour of Nassau can I take from 8PM - 4AM... I am going on this cruise on Sunday and this is horrible and no OBC is being offered. They should have at least offered some OBC.

Save money and stay on the ship and enjoy ships entertainment. it is not their fault that ports are closed due to the storm so do not see why they should give you obc other than perhaps refund of port charge for Freeport. I am going on this cruise on Sunday and this is horrible and no OBC is being offered. They should have at least offered some OBC. Carnival doesn't owe you anything because you signed the cruise contract which CLEARLY states they can change ports at any time for any reason and are not responsible for giving OBC because they changed the itinerary. (Due to a CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE which wasn't kind to the Bahamas in any way.) At least you're getting a cruise out of it. I should be on the Glory right now but Matthew disrupted flights for several days so we're sitting in the cold thousands of miles away from the Western Caribbean.. so.. Pick up and move on. Actually, when there's an announcement of an itinerary change before sailing, there's a window of opportunity to get a full refund without penalty. If you make the choice to sail a line not owned by CCL you're looking at Royal Carribean - whose "power" with their fine print is pretty much the same as any owned by Carnival. Good Luck.:D

TrinaLC Posted October 15, 2016 #24 Share Posted October 15, 2016 For us, the best part of cruising is, well CRUISING. We enjoy going to sleep with the sound and feel of the ocean. I would HATE being overnight at Nassau instead of cruising overnight! I'm sure they are doing it to save fuel. Shame.
