SeaTeach Posted October 23, 2016 #26 Share Posted October 23, 2016 People on here say that the room steward will bring you a vacuum to use Very true. Love space bags that vacuum suction is used, however it's very easy to over pack a case per weight allowance.
iamcsm Posted October 24, 2016 #27 Share Posted October 24, 2016 I bought and used the vacuum bags - and the room steward did bring us a vacuum, but I really didn't like them at all. As stated on here, the weight alone seemed to increase when using these. Also, the issue I had surrounded size. Once they are compressed, that's their size. There's no scrunching the end over to squeeze something else in the bag next to it, its just one hard package that can't be manipulated at all. It's doesn't stay in a perfect square, which would help.

dakacz Posted October 25, 2016 #29 Share Posted October 25, 2016 I have used the american tourister ones from walmart. With rolling I don't get wrinkles. To get the air out I gently sit on them, easier than rolling by hand. I find they are especially good for compressing fleece ware and sweaters which are light but take up a lot of space. Also things are better organized. Packing for coming home goes quicker with the bags. We are able to take 2 big suitcases and 2 carry ons. My bags usually weight about 40 lbs. I bring a scale to make sure they are within weight limits. My only problem is keeping track of the plastic closures as they tend to fall off the bags.
