Safety of Camp Carnival vs. Disney Day Camp?

NOk. Disney is expensive because its Disney. They are able to charge high prices because there are people who have no issues paying them. We were able to sail on Disney due to scoring an awesome Fl Resident rate, but it was only a four day.

I highly doubt they are running bacground checks on all passengers, costs too much and takes time.

Both camps are safe, both of my children attended camps on both ships and they actually liked Carnival better.

Carnival would lose alot of money if thier camps were not safe.

Why is Disney more expensive than Carnival:

Disney ships are infinitely better appointed than Carnival's. Disney's cabins are very comfortable and the one I had on the Dream was larger than Carnival's. Disney food (baby lamb chops, jumbo shrimp and crab legs on sail away buffet) is better than Carnival and Disney's entertainment, including it's fantastic deck party with fireworks is better as well. Switching MDR's keeps the kids involved, and the live interaction in the animated MDR allows the adults a peaceful meal. And you are paying for the Disney name, agreed.

I totally agree that both kids' camps are equally safe and entertaining, and kids in both programs express their desire to stay in the camps rather than return to their parents.

You forgot the fact that they have no casinos and sell less alcohol, both huge revenue generators.

My friend just talked to a cruise specialist at a travel agency and was told that the reason Disney is so expensive is because they run full background checks on everyone going on the cruise, and their day camp is just the gold standard when it comes to safety. She said she would never ever leave a child in Camp Carnival because it just isn't very safe and the reason Disney can charge what they do is because the parents get a vacation, as well as the kids, because they can have peace of mind when they leave their kids in the day camp.

Having experience with Carnival Camp, I agree with the cruise specialist about Carnival. After witnessing a few things, and the young kids running around the ship, I decided as one of many reasons to avoid Carnival like the plague. I won't go into details, mainly because just this post alone will get enough cheerleaders trying to discredit it.

I don't know if they sell less alcohol or not, they have just as many bars as any other ship and plenty of servers walking around the deck selling the drinks. The lack of a casino, while a loss of one type of income on the boat, is certainly a selling point to some people.

Not cheerleading, but pointing out a logical flaw. Young kids running the ship is not the fault of camp - that's just bad parenting. If the kids are in camp, they cannot be running the ship; up to 11, they are either in camp or the parent's responsibility.

The only times I have seen kids running around while attending a camp function was for the scavenger hunt. This is true for both Carnival and Celebrity so it's not just something that Carnival does.

The travel agent might receive a higher commission if her client's cruised with Disney. The TA reminds me of the one I was going to use last year for my Jamaica trip. I had no experience with Jamaica so I thought a TA was the way to go. She promoted one brand of AI and bashed their competitor.

When I asked for more details about the competitor she told me nothing but awful things. It just happened that around the time of planning I had a doctor appt. My doctor had a noticeable tan and I commented on it. She just returned from the horrible, rude, dirty and dangerous resort. She even showed me some photos on her phone.

I went to the horrible resort in Negril and had the time of my life. If I had listened to the TA, I would have never booked this resort. Lesson learned. Not all TA are honest nor do they have all of the information about places.
