Overhang on Arura balconies

Has anyone taken a superior deluxe cabin, and found the overhanging balcony above a nuisance? Not too happy about being overlooked, but to what extent did it affect your privacy and enjoyment of your balcony. Any help please!

It's OK, we soon forgot that we were overlooked. What’s the worst case scenario? Its unlikely anyone would be that intrusive.

I do occasionally wonder if anyone has ever dropped a glass from the 15th deck onto one of the balconies.

It's not really that C deck balconies overhang those on D deck, rather that D Deck balconies are totally uncovered and can be viewed, at least partially, by all other balcony cabins.

If you don't fancy this, there a a few superior de-luxe cabins aft on E Deck which are not overlooked.

We've had a superior deluxe on Azura.

As previously mentioned you are totally overlooked from above as opposed to having an overhang.

Yes, you might get a couple of people on the balconies above looking down occasionally when you're docking etc but they're not really looking at you.

Remember you've only got chairs, as opposed to sun loungers on the balcony, so it's unlikely that you're going to be sunbathing on there.

Everyone is different / has different expectations, however, we personally didn't have any issues with it & it certainly didn't spoil our cruise.

In fact we've booked adjoining superior deluxe cabins on Ventura for a back to back cruise for my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary next September.

I have had one of those cabins on Azura twice now, and had no problems at all from being overlooked. We do nothing on our balcony that we care about other people seeing, and if they want to gawp at us sitting out there reading, or eating and drinking, then so be it.

The only drawback I can see is if you like to sit in the shade....if the sun is on your side of the ship, then there is no shade at all, unless you sit inside......which rather defeats the object of a balcony!

We loved it!

We have had superior Deluxe cabins on both Azura and Ventura when 3 of us shared a cabin (a standard cabin being too small for more than 2 when the kids become teenagers). The extra space is noticeable and much appreciated, although when the sofa bed is set up you cannot access the balcony. The lounge area is underneath the balcony of the cabin directly above and the balcony protrudes out as you have identified. As others have stated, the privacy issue isn't really a factor. People aren't looking down on you, they are looking out to see or to the dockside. We did, however, find the complete lack of shade a bit of a problem. Finally, it's worth noting that the sofa beds aren't really big enough for more than one person, if teenagers or adults. That, of course, applies to all sofa beds, including those in suites. If none of the above are concerns for you then you will enjoy the cabin. They are very good.

We had a Superior de-Luxe balcony on D deck last year. We really enjoy the privacy a balcony offers so we can have breakfast or drinks on it, or just have some quiet time on our own reading, away from the bustle around the ship but we were always conscious of being overlooked. The pluses were we got to know people around us and we certainly loved the cabin space but we wouldn't book one on D deck again. We love the balconies right at the very back of Azura, especially those on the corners and our next cruise is on Ventura where we've got a C deck balcony which is huge and half shaded and half open so the best of both worlds.
