You are allowed to go by your stateroom and drop off bags, it just depends on whether or not your room is ready.

 

They won't let you unless the room is cleaned.

NCL requests that you stay in the public areas until they announce that rooms are ready. That's usually around 1:30. Inless you are in a suite where they may escort you directly to your room. Boarding on most cruises starts at 11:30 (ahead of the advertised 12:00 noon boarding time).

We did not have any issues dropping off our bags even though our room was not ready... We met our steward, tossed our bags in the closet, then got out of his way.
