KKMurphy2 Posted November 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2016 My dad will have a scooter rented for the cruise and he will need a wheelchair to get off the ship. We are a party of six and will have plenty of people to help ourselves - we just need the wheelchair. How do we obtain that on debarkation morning? Thanks for the info! Generally speaking self assist for some someone requiring wheelchair assistance only happens if you bring your own wheelchair. On embarkation day most cruise lines do not loan out wheelchairs for that purpose as the ship has a limited number of wheelchairs for numerous passengers requiring assistance. If wheelchair assistance is required you have to go to a designated area published in the cruise newsletter left in your cabin the night before. You can always go down to that area first thing in the morning to inquire but I would most definitely recommend having an alternative plan in place. No one on this Forum is going to be able to tell you will 100% certainty that what your wanting is going to be able to be done. You need to speak to someone on the ship during the cruise.. cb at sea Posted November 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Just like needing assistance to get to the cabin where the scooter is, you just need to inform them that you will need assistance OFF the ship, too...someone will come with a wheelchair, and roll you off the ship, as the scooter stays IN the cabin for later pickup by the rental company. Rare firegal2539 Posted November 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Posters are correct. I use a wheelchair and was told I have to bring my own to do Self Assist. You can't use the scooter you rented or the cruise lines wheelchairs to get yourself off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
