Princess Keani Tours

I am speechless about this. We have cruised on Princess many times and the Alaska trip we have booked next August opened the excursion reservations nine months before the tour date. We have never seen this so early! We went into the cruise personalizer and booked various tours and found to our horror that none of the two tours to Keani Fjords from the Princess lodge have space available. This is only TWO DAYS after the tours were posted. We will be at that location on August 18th. The main reason we chose a tour to that location was to visit the park.

 

We can probably book a tour through the Park service, but transportation to the Princess lodge would be an issue. We intend to contact Princess about this on Monday asking why they have limited space so much. Basically anyone staying at that lodge wants to tour the park.

 

Has anyone else had this issue, and does anyone have any suggestions for us?

Kenai? Just book a local tour. You can't book Princess tours til 120 days before departure.

Once You're Booked: Booked passengers can pre-book shore excursions online, starting 120 days prior to and up to 5 days before sail date by clicking on "Booked Passengers" on the right of the top navigation bar. In the "Cruise Personalizer," passengers can also book spa treatments on all ships, pre-reserve dining preferences, make special requests and print boarding passes and handy travel summaries.

 

Caveat: Excursion packages involving hotel accommodations, flights and private vehicles are not refundable within 30 days of your cruise departure date.

It may say 120 days but it appears Princess is moving up the date. I wish they would go back to 120 days!

 

Does anyone know local tour operators in the area?

Have you tried calling Princess and asking them about the tour showing sold out? When we tried to book our Arctic Circle flight excursion in Fairbanks last year, it was showing sold out until we called for something else and happened to mention the tour. The rep told us that it only shows that because "land tours can't be booked online like ship tours the way the website is set up" and she happily signed us up on her end for the flight excursion. Don't remember having that problem when I booked an excursion in Denali though but we got the end result we wanted so it's worth a shot.

RESOLVED!!!

 

Called Princess yesterday. They said the tour was not sold out, but the system was showing that due to a glitch. They said we should check every day. Checked today and sure enough it showed available so we booked it. We are now confirmed.

 

So now we just have to come up with the $$$ a full nine months before the cruise.

I had the same problem, my travel agent contacted Princess Excursions and as of today am booked on the Kenai Fjords excursion.

I'm leaving on the Star Aug. 26th and it NEVER occurred to me to check excursions this far out! Guess I'd better be paying attention and checking daily. Thanks for the heads up.
