Caribbean Cruise and Stay

Looking at a February cruise and stay either from Jamaica or Barbados.

Would appreciate recommendations for hotels in either.

Main requirements are:

cleanliness and comfort

good food

on or very close to good sandy beach

close to (within walking distance) a town with interesting shops, restaurants, perhaps some night life

less than 1h transfer from airport

I haven't stayed in many but did love the location of the Southern Palms in Barbados. It is on a great beach and is a 10 min walk to the St Laurence gap. Barbados has a great local bus to get to other places. For some reason it is cheap - however, that will be the only cheap thing you will find lol. We had the 1 bed suite so had our own kitchen and living area. Eating out in Barbados is very very expensive (as is even buying food to cook in). A one course meal for 2 with glass of wine each is about £ 80-90

Be VERY careful security wise in Barbados. We had money take from room safe and our hotel and even tour Rep (Virgin) seemed to pay lip service to sorting/reporting it. They delayed and delayed knowing we had to leave the island eventually! They didn't want tourism/hotel booking affected!

 

Although not as bad as the 70's when you could return to your hired mini moke and find a local sat in it to be taken in whatever direction you happened to be going!!! Barbados was expensive then and still is :)

Hi cruise fan x2 have done both, sensatori Jamaica super hotel right on the beach, slightly cheaper than barbados, sea Breezes x2 Mango bay x2 barbados, MANGO BAY very compact and good food lot,s of entertainment small beach. SEA BREEZES super beach super food good entertainment, and it,s a must go for it,
