Treacher1 Posted November 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2016 We are sailing the Pearl in March - one thread said Pearl will be refurbished in Feb 2017 and another thread said sometime in the fall in 2017. Does anyone know for SURE and what will be done? Any information appreciated!
pisenor Posted November 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2016 I don't know the answer for certain but if I were a betting man I would guess October 2017. Check the NCL site and there are no scheduled cruises for sale in October. Just my guess...

volk904 Posted November 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Looks like the Pearl has no cruises from Jan 29 to March 3 so I think you can assume Feb is refurbished month. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Coastalbreezes Posted November 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Just off the Pearl last Friday and February is the date we were given. The sooner, the better as the poor girl is tired (although it was kind of cool to see the old-school Cagney's chairs and the round, velvety banquettes in Le Bistro!). Treacher1 Posted November 8, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Thanks for the replies - i wonder if this includes cabins or just public areas.
jpcdds6 Posted November 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 8, 2016 It should include soft refurb of the cabins. The bold colors that were prevalent throughout the Jewel class are being replaced with more earthy tones.
PRgymnast Posted November 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2016 I just saw a super cheap 4 day cruise on NCL Pearl; Miami to Jamaica and back for $99 pp for an inside and $179 for a balcony! The catch is it leaves this Sunday. How and/or why is it sooo cheap?!? Anyone know? I'm thinking to surprise the DH and book!!!!
Imalismom Posted November 8, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2016 For $99, I'd love to book it also.... its probably so low because (1) it is this Saturday and (2) they have a lot of open rooms....
jgrave Posted November 9, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 9, 2016 I'm taking the cruise this weekend to Jamaica as my first ever cruise. From what I read, I hope I'm not disappointed with the ship. lol
PRgymnast Posted November 9, 2016 #11 Share Posted November 9, 2016 Went to book this today but I waited too long. It sold out over night. Should have booked it last night instead of going to gym. Oh well. Live & learn!

Tracy I'm looking at maybe taking the Pearl in April through Jamaica. The one thing I seem to notice is that this ship doesn't have as many of the outdoor spaces that the Getaway has. For example the big area on the back of the boat seems to be inside instead of outside. Not sure if you were in the Caribbean, but what are your thoughts on this? PRgymnast Posted November 11, 2016 #14 Share Posted November 11, 2016 I've been depressed for the last 2 days bc of losing out on this cruise. Well, this morning, something told me to check and lo and behold, I scored the last available balcony! Someone must have cancelled or got upgraded. I'm STOKED! Going to be a crazy 2 days getting ready. We sail on Sunday!!! :D
jimw Posted November 15, 2016 #15 Share Posted November 15, 2016 We ran into a deal on a 7 day Pearl for Feb 6-13th,'17 in an ocean view for $205. and booked 4 cabins. Anyway, the drydock is hopefully NOT while we are aboard.... :) This wasn't listed online anywhere--our NCL person called and told me about it. It wasn't even on the NCL site until the next day. Of course, it sold out within a day or so. Haven't been on NCL for a few years---Is the no soda's brought onboard really enforced? I normally take a 12 pack. I booked last Wednesday through the NCL site. Called Monday for an additional room for my daughter and the it was gone. Called NCL and they told me the date was sold out but our booking is confirmed. Looks like no dry dock for February. No other dates are available in February either. Had no intentions of cruising in February, but for that price plus a $250 discount we needed to use... Almost cheaper than staying at home. :D
Lorey2007 Posted November 16, 2016 #19 Share Posted November 16, 2016 Maybe they had cabins unsold from a charter. I hope tbey get the refurbishment done by my cruise on 3-23. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Forums mobile app

bluesea777 Posted November 17, 2016 #22 Share Posted November 17, 2016 Cruisedeckplans says Pearl's dry dock is Feb 10 to March 2 2017. Extensive updates to public areas and staterooms.
pspercy Posted November 17, 2016 #23 Share Posted November 17, 2016 (edited) Looks like Feb 13 2017 thru' March 3 is unassigned at present. October 2017 still open too. There's a Panama Canal trip in there somewhere given what's published already. Edited November 17, 2016 by pspercy
