Cruiser Who Knows Nothing Posted November 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2016 My head is spinning, I need a nice beach, clear water, restaurant/bar. Me, DH DD16,DS15. We've been to Megan's on a day when I think every ship in the Caribbean was in St Thomas and all the passengers went to Megan's. micheecruise Posted November 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2016 Do those hotels charge you to use the beach?
blue_water Posted November 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2016 Magens and Smith Bay park have an entry fee, other beaches are open to the public and you only pay to rent loungers, etc.
blue_water Posted November 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2016 Magens and Smith Bay park have an entry fee, other beaches are open to the public and you only pay to rent loungers, etc. To clarify, Secret Harbor and Sapphire are home to condo properties, and Emerald Beach Resort is a hotel. So you can't access the private areas but the beach along the ocean is open to everyone, and they have restaurants and beach bars open to the public. OceansOfTravels Posted November 22, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 22, 2016 (edited) Emerald Beach has chairs for rent, and bathroom/changing facilities, plus restaurants and bars. Taxis were $8 per person round trip from the Havensight dock, and we paid $25 for two chairs and an umbrella, but I have recently read reports about the chairs being $7 to rent. It is a nice beach area, facing directly west. Not completely serene and quiet, as there are two hotels on the beach, but it is a great and reliable place to spend the day. We had a good time and would go back. Edited November 22, 2016 by OceansOfTravels
