Tabyana Beach & Gumbalimba Preserve NCL

Sure, just grab a cab, usually $20pp for all day and go to West Bay Beach. Tabyana is there as is Bananarama and others. It is all one big, long, beautiful beach with wonderfully warm water and great snorkeling (if you like that).

Last time we were there, there were tons of NCL beach towels....and their owners.

You can get a good idea about this if you look on Google Earth. Do a search on both Tabyana and then one on West Bay Beach, Roatan.

I believe Thinfool is a bit relaxed about the taxi price. :)

Taxi on the island are not regulated, it is all about the haggle. If one docks at Mahogany Bay the price is going to be higher than from Coxen Hole. One need to sort round trip transport and pay when you get back to the ship.

Now then, if you don't want the hassle of haggling with an extortionist taxi, Bananarama and Beacher's both offer day passes with transport included.

If snorkeling is the goal, the easy access, boat free reef snorkeling is steps from your lounger at Tabyana. Tabyana is part of West Bay Beach, where both Beacher's and Bananarama are location.

One added thought, many believe, myself included, the food is much better at Beacher's vs Bananarama. :0)

We have been there several times, docking at both Coxen Hole and MB. Always put 4 people at $20 pp in a cab and go to West Bay Beach. The driver stays in your vicinity (though not "with" you) and will bring you back when you are ready.

The highest price ever quoted (at MB), not negotiated, was $25.pp and that was for 2 people in the cab.

The drivers are not employees in the US sense. They lease the use of the cab and pay part of their income to the owner of the cab.

Haggling is a fact of life in Latin America, no one thinks anything about it unless you offer an insulting lo-ball price.

Still, they are happy to take your money if you accept their first price.
