Comedy and Dueling Piano Shows on the Getaway

Trying to get my facts straight. You can reserve these shows, but only once onboard? How quickly do they "sell out"? Is everyone with a reservation guaranteed a seat? Would you recommend going to see the comedians only once, or do they do different sets all week? What about the shows in Fat Cats, do you reserve those as well?

You can reserve comedy once on the ship. Whether or not the shows are different depends entirely on the comedians who happen to be on your cruise and what type of material they have. Most will tell you at their first show if it will be all new stuff at subsequent shows.

The dueling pianos isn't really a "show", but live music in a bar, exactly like your Howl at The Moon in Chicago. People are coming and going all the time.

So no reservations for dueling pianos I take it?

Correct. They don't take reservations. Howl at the Moon is a bar atmosphere. They start playing at like 8:30, and they quit @ 12:30. Other nights the times are different, but they play the entire time. There's 3 of them, and only 2 on stage at once, most times. So they're rotating out all evening.

As lrgpizza said, Howl at the Moon isn't a show in that you go at the start and stay for the duration (although you can if you want).

It goes on for quite a while (over three hours usually) and the idea is that people can walk in and out like in a normal bar. There are no reservations, as that just doesn't work for this type of entertainment.

You turn up when you want, grab a chair if there is one available (usually is, but occasionally not) or stand at the bar, and leave when you want.

Correct. You go grab a seat. Or you sit at the bar. Or stand at the bar. Or head straight to the dance floor, etc. It's merely a bar with live entertainment. It works the same way bars on land work. You go in whenever you want and find a spot to hang out. You leave when you've had enough. Then maybe you come back. Whatever. It's not a reservation/show kind of thing.

You also don't make reservations for the piano player in the atrium. Think of this as the same thing.

We where on the Getaway last week. We couldn't make reservations for any of the comedy shows, it said all the reservations where gone. We went to each show. Stood in the stand by line, which they allowed in ten minutes before the show. We got in every night. One night after we got admitted there was only around 20 people inside the club. The opening act pretty much had the same act each night, but the headliners changed the show each time we saw them. The adult show got cut short because of a group or people from Canada wanted to be center of attention, and the performer got fed up with them, and quit. They where been asses. One night during the cruise they also had a comedy show in the big theater, that featured all the acts.

Good thing you pointed out that they were from Canada, since that's important to the story.

Were those crazy Canucks running up and down the aisles with their Maple Leafed flags? Again.
