Can anyone tell me if one of a party is travelling from a different area and is delayed will the others be able to book in go to there cabin then go back to the departure hall to wait for the late comer

It would help to know the cruise line, ship, and boarding port. With that info, someone here may be able to relate direct experience.

You do NOT have to board together...on ANY cruise line! No worries!

The son of our cruise mate forgot his passport at home which was an hour drive away. The Princess check-in rep in Brooklyn knew that the son went home while the parents waited in the terminal across the check-in counter, without checking in yet. The son arrived 30 minutes before the 5pm sail time and made it amidst Princess staffs' applause. Before that, the Captain announced on the public address that sailing will just be delayed while waiting for a passenger. Don't know however if this will happen in all instances on any line or port.

They should just meet the latecomer on board. Your cell phone will work on your regular plan before you set sail.
