Youngercruisers Posted December 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2016 Hi Cruise Experts, We are getting close to our Dec 18th sailing on the Regal but wondering a couple things: 1) How often do they have the Winemakers dinner onboard Regal and and when will they announce menus onboard (1st day/embarkation)? Ships sold out, should we book asap day of embarkation? 2) Do they offer these winemaker dinners on formal nights only or every night of the cruise? 3) Chef's table, same questions? When will they announce menus and when are they usually done....formal nights etc. 4) How and where do we go to book cabana for 1/2 day at retreat pool and is it really worth the $40pp? Thanks all P 3)
easyboy Posted December 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2016 Winemaker dinners are only on set date and have limits. Better to reserve on embarkation day. Sent from my iPad using Forums
mybichon Posted December 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2016 We reserved our spot on day one. There were two of them on our cruise and they were not on formal nights. They had a menu posted in the crown grill but it was not the one they used. We had the menu with the filet mignon and it was excellent from start to finish. Definitely one of the highlights of our cruise.
Rare Colorado Coasty Posted December 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2016 We have done both on Regal. They were excellent and well worth the cost. We booked chef's table on the dine line as soon as we were aboard. During the chef's table dinner, the maitre d' asked if we would like to attend the wine makers dinner, we said yes and he send us an invitation the next morning. There was also a wine tasting dinner in Sabastinis, it was not very good and we would not do it again.
Astro Flyer Posted December 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2016 Hi Cruise Experts, We are getting close to our Dec 18th sailing on the Regal but wondering a couple things: 1) How often do they have the Winemakers dinner onboard Regal and and when will they announce menus onboard (1st day/embarkation)? Ships sold out, should we book asap day of embarkation? When we sailed on the Regal & Royal it was offered about once per week & about as often as the CT. Onboard staff determines how often both dinners are available. The menu is disclosed if you're selected to participate however all of ours were the Michael Mondavi filet mignon entrée menu. We asked about having a different menu for a second WM Dinner but were told the Mondavi menu is most popular & it would be that same menu again. 2) Do they offer these winemaker dinners on formal nights only or every night of the cruise? None of our three Winemakers Dinners were on formal nights. 3) Chef's table, same questions? When will they announce menus and when are they usually done....formal nights etc. I've attended four CTs & none were on formal night. 4) How and where do we go to book cabana for 1/2 day at retreat pool and is it really worth the $40pp? Thanks all P 3) Like the CT, the Winemakers Dinner has very limited participation so call the DINE line ASAP after boarding the ship. Here are copies of the 3 menus & a review I did about the Winemakers Dinner. http://www.beyondships2.com/uploads/8/2/4/5/8245255/wine_makers_menu_2-oct-13_without_price.pdf http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1939851 My only "complaint" about the Winemakers Dinner is that it's only available on the Regal & Royal. The CT was successful before the Lumiere ring of lights area on the new ships & feel that the Winemakers Dinner would be successful on other ships even without the Wine Cellar area.
