kvickers Posted December 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2016 We are considering doing this as a family when we dock in Nassau on the NCL Escape. Should we be worried when it comes to safety? Any tips for the best/most straight forward route? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
oilsand Posted December 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2016 The walk to junkanroo is safe . There will be thousands of folks doing exactly the same thing. The only word of caution is at times the sidewalks are not in the best of shape, Just go outside of fedstival place , past the BCH hotel and you are there. probably take about 10 minutes
caribsun Posted December 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2016 It's a safe walk, around 20 minutes. As you exit Welcome Center walk to the right away from the ship and keep the water to your right. When you reach the beach it may be crowded, just keep walking until it thins out. monctonguy Posted December 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2016 Have done it many times! Lots to see and do along the way. Very safe. Just watch out for the traffic too as very busy and they drive on the "other" side of the road. Its a great little free beach not far from the port at all so enjoy! Rare mitsugirly Posted December 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2016 Super easy and we didn't find any problems with the sidewalks along the way. We were a family of 8 that did it last month. HERE's a complete review of it with TONS of pictures if you are interested (scroll down to around post #490). I took some pics along the way and returning. ryarger Posted December 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2016 Just got back from Nassau and I agree with everyone else that the walk to Junkanoo is perfectly safe! We hung out at Jyah's for a while and had a blast! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

cruise_alot123 Posted March 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2017 Very safe done it so many times and will do it again when we set sail on 4/2 on the NCL Breakaway. Easy walk just keep walking when you pass the straw market and just loop around to the right about 15 to 20 mins and the beach right there. We usually find a palm tree and put the stuff there and soak in the beach. No need to rent beach chairs so bring a beach mat and that should do it. Do bring bottles of water with you because it can be very hot since the walk to the beach has no shade. Just follow the people when existing the port keep right all the way. phredt Posted March 22, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2017 I can attest to being careful about where you are walking. It's been a few years, but we were walking back from Junkanoo and witnessed a lady stepping into a rusted out drain in the middle of the sidewalk. Cut her leg up pretty bad, so just be careful. It was on the water side of the road, within 50 yards of the entrance to the beach. The sand on the beach is a bit rocky, so be careful when walking barefoot. Good food and cheap drinks can be had there.
