Goodgirl71253 Posted December 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2016 We will sale on the carnival freedom March 25, 2017. We have a premium vista balcony cabin and our friend has the balcony cabin next door to us. How hard is it, or is it even possible to have the balcony divider opened? cruizergal70 Posted December 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2016 From what I understand, they only allow it for a limited number of cabins. You should request as soon as you get on board.
Ykgorbie Posted December 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2016 Also, there are some that they will not open - like if you have a connecting cabin - then those balconies cannot be opened up together. I have always gone to guest services to request it as soon as we board.
angela12345 Posted December 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2016 (edited) Some of them open easy peasy. What are your cabin numbers ? You can find this info online for specific cabins. For example see description for cabin 6207 which states "Balcony features: 2 patio chairs and table / balcony partition opens to: 6209" https://help.goccl.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/587 Other cabins they *may* still open for you but you have to get special permission. For these cabins they have to actually remove the partition. The issue is they don't really have specific places they are able to put the removed partitions. They cannot just open these partitions because if it swings left it blocks one cabin's door from the cabin to the balcony, if it swings right it blocks the other cabin's door from the cabin to the balcony. Finally, there are some cabins where they are unable to open them at all. . Edited December 18, 2016 by angela12345

Life_Traveler Posted December 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2016 We actually are having this done on our Alaska cruise next summer. We actually have already informed carnival in writing with both Booking Numbers so they could remove the panel. We were told by carnival that they have to notify Coast Guard of the rooms that are having this done and that the sooner we ask the more likely we have of being able to have it done. They confirmed via email to us so we can just present this on board if its not done already. we also made sure that our joining rooms were capable of having it done when we booked because some rooms they cannot do this to due to location and or barrier is not removable. Could you elaborate on how you notified them and got confirmation? We have had this done once and are planning on doing it again on our cruise next week. Both times, before booking we made sure via the cabin website and our PVP that the balconies we chose were able to have the divider removed. Last time, we went right to guest services upon boarding as we were told (and one member from each cabin has to go) and plan to do the same again. If there is a way to have it prepared in advance, I'd love to know! Thanks!

They informed us back via email in about 5 days stating it has been noted. They told me if it wasn't done when we got to our rooms to just notify our steward and he would see that it gets done and to take this email with me as proper notification. we did it this way this time because of it being a Alaska Cruise and were told when booking that there are a limited number of rooms they allow this on during this particular cruise itinerary and we wanted to make sure we got it. we always did the guest service method also but just to be cautious we did this.
