Why not also consider the Sapphire Princess?

It's the newer ship and you know how people like to book the newest ships. If the itinerary stays the same as 2004 then it does Ketchikan as the 1st port rather than Juneau and continues the ports from a south to north. Similar to a Voyage of the Glaciers.

Diamond isn't that much "older" than Sapphire so didn't think that would make a difference. Chose Diamond for the 14 hour port call in Skagway, 11 hours in Juneau and the midday cruising in Tracy Arm. Gives folks time to do a lot in port. Also Saturday departure works for people who like a day to travel back and have a day before back to the office on Monday. Port calls on Sapphire not quite as long or good timewise IMHO (have done Alaska numerous times). It was really port times though... when it came right down to it.

Hey Chris and Steve,

You thinking of doing this one??? I may have a CC friend to go with me, so I'm seriously considering it. DH won't go to Alaska, so have to find someone else!

It would be fun to have all of us Princess cheerleaders on a cruise together! We will need to get Sue to join us! icon_smile.gif

Nita: the more the merrier! Cheerleaders? maybe they can keep us "pepped up" till the boss gets back and finalizes our group rates..

Any nominations for uniquely Alaskan name for our group?? Since we have all this time to figure it out???

Caro, my only thoughts have to do with the song. "North to Alaska!" Or "Alaska or Bust!" or "The Gold Rush" that'd spark some interest!

Doesn't someone have a clever thought???

Or as we say in Boston - PAHTY

I want Baha 716. Now just have to talk DH in to this one. I think I can, I think I can
(depending on prices, of course.)
Put in a salmon fishing trip for an excursion and I might be able to convince him.

My clever thoughts must be all used up for today but I'll try and think of something.

It was called Sewards Folly at one time. Maybe we could call it the Alaska Follies......

The "Partae" thing-y never entered my mind We've have, however, had some very excellent drinking adventures with the Princess bartenders in Alaska (especially) over the years though

Nita: North to Alaska has possibilities.. any good lines from that song we could adapt????

Cooooool Thanks, Chris - you are one smart cookie.
OK, here are the words by Johnny Horton.

chorus)
Way up north to Alaska, way up north to Alaska
North to Alaska, we've gone north, the rush is on.
North to Alaska, we've gone north, the rush is on.

Big Sam left Seattle in the year of '92.
With George Prep his partner, and brother Billy too.
They crossed the Yukon River, and found a bonanza gold.
Below that old white mountain, just a little southeast of Nome.
Sam crossed the majestic mountains to the valleys far below.
He talked to his team of huskey's as they mushed on through the snow.
With the Northern Lights a runnin' wild in the Land of the Midnight Sun.
Yes Sam McCord was a mighty man in the year of nineteen-one.

Where the river is winding, big nuggets they're finding,
North to Alaska, we've gone north, the rush is on.
(chorus)

George turned to Sam with his gold in his hand.
Said 'Sam you're a lookin' at a lonely, lonely man.
I'd trade all the gold that's buried in this land
For one small band of golden lace on sweet little Jenny's hand.
'Cause a man needs a woman to love him all the time.
Remember Sam a true love is so hard to find.
I'd build for my Jenny a honeymoon home.
Below that old white mountain just a little southeast of Nome.'

Where the river is windin', big nuggets they're findin'
North to Alaska, we've gone north, the rush is on.
North to Alaska, we've gone north, the rush is on.
(chorus)

Oh, well, I guess those lyrics aren't what I thought they were... I don't think the "Sam you're lookin' at a lonely man" group is quite what we're looking for
