Rare Vineyard View Posted December 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2016 Sorry to jump in on this thread.....but for us the least crowded nice beach with amenities would be of interest to us. I Apologize Port Royal - you might not be leaning in this direction, so maybe different options in response outlining differences would be great? I Apologize Port Royal - you might not be leaning in this direction, so maybe different options in response outlining differences would be great? THE BEST BUT NOT CLOSE TO PORT Beach location The best two places for your consideration are JACQUI O's and CECILIA'S look nowhere else, as every decent "quiet" beach will attract the cruise herds, and cease to be so. Both are upmarket shabby chic class places with excellent service, food, drinks, facilities and are "well away" from the Cruise Herds, no matter how many ships are in port. JO's and C's are NOT "grab a bed and an umbrella" places. JO is closed on a Monday and is closest to the Port. Cecilia's has a lower price point and slightly further away Book your visit/lunch/day in advance. Whoever you select there will be no disappointment. JACQUI O's - https://www.facebook.com/ CECILIA'S - http://highpointantigua.com/ However, if you like the ambience of a Yacht/Beach Club, then the Pavilion Contact the Concierge at the Pavilion concierge@christopheharbour.com They may have space to allow you to visit, take lunch, drinks etc for a day Cruise Herds will NEVER establish the P as a "destination". Definitely NOT a "grab a bed and an umbrella" beach club. __________________
DougYWG Posted December 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2016 There are no beaches within walking distance. Since the OP asked about beaches, not restaurants, a 15 minute taxi ride would take you to Runaway, Deep Cove or Ft. James. The first two have no facilities and you would have the place all to yourself. I don't think Ft. James would be terribly busy. If facilities are important, then you are looking at the string of beaches on the west coast starting at Jolly and going south. I can't prove it but suspect that beaches get quieter as you get further away from the port. The furthest one would be less than 30 minutes from the port by taxi. richfromhaw Posted January 19, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2017 We sailed on RCL Adventure of the Seas last week and Wednesday our port stop was Antigua. We opted to go to Dickensen Beach , 10 minute taxi ride from cruise port. Calm clean water, nice beach. Taxi fare was $12 + tip ( if you so elect) each way for two people. We rented 2 beach chairs + umbrella from Tony's beachfront for $22 total. Whatever you do in Antigua, please enjoy.
