Rare jpalbny Posted October 6, 2017 #4526 Share Posted October 6, 2017 Thanks Jeff and mysty. Jeff, I tried deleting and reinstalling too and it still didn't work. The app tends to flake out now and then, so I'm trying to (im)patiently wait it out. It's been a few days though so I am getting a bit annoyed. mysty, SmugMug has been pretty great so far. I like it for the unlimited storage space (you can upload full-size pictures) so it's a great online backup as well as a display gallery. What I've done is upload entire folders (for backup) to private folders (for my own backup purposes), and I've uploaded a bunch of trip galleries (for public viewing) into to public galleries which can be seen by anyone visiting my page. You can see what I have done so far... The upload process is pretty easy through a drag-and-drop interface, though uploading full-size pics takes a little while. I will usually set a big bunch to upload overnight before I go to bed, and they are uploaded by morning.

Rare jpalbny Posted October 6, 2017 #4528 Share Posted October 6, 2017 J....I thought the photos had to be resident on the net somewhere in order to post them. I don't have an ipad or iphone. Did I misunderstand? The little picture icon when clicked seems to be looking for an http. M. Yes, the photos have to be resident somewhere on the net in order to post. You can upload to somewhere, then manually copy the link into your post (that's what I just did with the two photos here). Alternatively, the Forums app (through TapaTalk) does this for you. When you use the app to post a picture, it actually uploads your photo to the tapatalk server, generates a URL, and pastes that URL into your post. All automatic! Really nice, when it works... Thanks, Solo mi! Chris and I love to try new recipes and we like to (try to) control what we eat. But the end result of having made a bunch of recipes is that I am confident enough to make something up from a few ingredients. Like that shrimp pasta. No recipe required. The chicken recipe was from Food & Wine Magazine...our new favorite source.
UKCruiseJeff Posted October 6, 2017 #4529 Share Posted October 6, 2017 M, If you have a laptop, or even your old PB account, you can right click on your mouse and copy the image either on PB or your PC (or even press the image with your finger and on some platforms it gives the option to "copy image") and then "crtl V" and paste it directly into a CC post. This will cirumvent the PB issue. I think many have overlooked that as a PB solution ..... perhaps Pb haven't thought of it. :) Have a go yourself ...... eg ..... Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4530 Share Posted October 6, 2017 OK!!!!! We have a Surface Pro so I will attempt that neat little trick. Thanks J!
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4531 Share Posted October 6, 2017 That did not work. :( This is a windows system on the Surface Pro.
UKCruiseJeff Posted October 6, 2017 #4532 Share Posted October 6, 2017 It worked for me on my surface pro. Go to a PB image and open the full image by clicking it not the small images. Right click on the mouse, (don't use "copy image" on the right hand side on PB as that is for moving the image within PB) and once you have copied image go back to cc and put the pointer where you wish and then paste it. The image can equally be an image on your surface pro. It may only put a sort of link for a moment but have courage and hit save and the image should pop up. Try again! Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4534 Share Posted October 6, 2017 OK. I tried it on our computer and the image appeared briefly and then dissolved in masses of letters and numbers. It was awful! I'll go to the Surface Pro and try again.
UKCruiseJeff Posted October 6, 2017 #4535 Share Posted October 6, 2017 Keep trying. The bread piccy was using the surface pro and a pb image and the goofy was using a net image.
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4536 Share Posted October 6, 2017 No Luck. The image appeared and I hit post reply and got a message saying "Your message is too long". What did you mean by "hit save"? I'm going to try again.

I'll go to the Surface Pro and try again. If the masses of letters and numbers appeared on CC after you pasted but before you "submit reply" ... then have courage and go ahead and do it anyway to see what happens. UKCruiseJeff Posted October 6, 2017 #4538 Share Posted October 6, 2017 When you have your cursor within the image right click the mouse and "copy image". When in the CC message right click where you have the cursor and hit "paste".
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4539 Share Posted October 6, 2017 I did that :) Same thing happens-----Error Your message is too long. Are your images ones you took with your ipad? I'm trying to use images that Frances took (made smaller 900 X600 pixels).
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4540 Share Posted October 6, 2017 The masses of letters appeared after I hit print preview. The next time I tried without doing print preview I got the error message that my message was too long.
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4541 Share Posted October 6, 2017 I've tried several times with the same result------message is too long. I appreciate your help J! Thanks for trying!
UKCruiseJeff Posted October 6, 2017 #4542 Share Posted October 6, 2017 It may be as you say ..... image size. No idea what size an ipad image is.
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4543 Share Posted October 6, 2017 Thanks J! I reduced the image to 400 pixels and still the message was too long. Oh well, I appreciate your patience and support! :)

Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4545 Share Posted October 6, 2017 OK. I tried to upload a picture Myster had taken with his ipad and that failed as well. Is the UK version of CC different from ours? This seems very strange!
UKCruiseJeff Posted October 6, 2017 #4546 Share Posted October 6, 2017 I think when you paste from PB it might be pasting the location rather than image. I have no idea why it doesn't do the same with an ipad!
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4547 Share Posted October 6, 2017 Show off! Ha Ha Ha! Beautiful picture J! I really do not understand what the issue is here. I swear I am following your instructions!
Rare mysty Posted October 6, 2017 #4548 Share Posted October 6, 2017 OK. To be clear, the images I am trying to upload are not from Photobucket. They are from our C drive. Is that the problem?
