A second vote for parking only at the terminal. This is the overwhelming recommendation of the locals like bayonnejoe as well as the frequent cruisers.

Vote #3 for terminal parking. Not sure when you are going but the garage is a great option for the white stuff that falls from they sky.

Good observation. I checked the OP's signature and it looks like he is sailing 1/26/17, so snow is certainly a consideration. I'm doing a park/sleep/cruise for the 2/7 cruise and expect to be removing snow from my car when I get back! Coming from Boston I just can't justify paying more to park at the port than getting a package with hotel room, parking for 12 days, and round trip port transportation.

When we went out of Cape Liberty we parked at an offsite location which had indoor parking, but this was before the parking structure was completed.

Yeah, park at the terminal. Looks like there is stuff near the airport, but that's a trek:
