Epic reviews... Don't they research the ship at all??

I love cruising. You could put me a cot in the luggage compartment and I would be happy. Though I know most people are not this way.

I can understand people not being familiar with a ship when they book it. But I would think if you are on these boards, at least enough to post a review of a cruise, that you may have looked at the cabin layout before sailing. So it surprises me when people seemed shocked about the bathroom layout on the Epic.

Happy new year.... JMHO :)

I agree. Just off the Epic and I warned my husband beforehand about all the negatives. We were not bothered by anything that I had read about the Epic. Only bothered by the chair hogs, which happens on every ship and on other cruise lines. The Epic was great if you enjoy great entertainment and are used to larger ships. We had already sailed on the Escape and Getaway so we knew about the larger ships.

A lot of people are really lazy about researching both the cruise line and their ship of choice. So many of the questions asked on this forum could easily be answered themselves by a simple perusal of the FAQ's and Terms and Conditions of promos.

And yet I have seen very rude replies when people gave asked questions. As for their shows they know they have a lot of families why not do a family friendly show as well as Priscilla?

Epic still sails at or near capacity - so it must not bug enough people to make an impact on the bottom line.

I feel this is because they keep the prices low for families.

I researched and knew about the weird cabin/bathroom layout and was still surprised by how much it bothered me.

Especially with my son in the room with us. He was sleeping on the couch and I had to make sure he was not hanging over at all so I wouldn't close his head in the bathroom door in the middle of the night.

It's not private at all and yes, loud when you get up in the night to go. Sometimes I didn't flush because I didn't want to wake anyone.

I showered in the spa and gym locker rooms, as did the girls who were sharing with our oldest son. Even with the curtain, while changing, you can be walked in on from the door side if someone doesn't pay attention to the DND sign.

I agree with another poster that even when you do read the reviews and look at the pictures or videos, you tend to take it with a grain of salt and think that person is just picky or that you're able to look past that for all these other things . . . and there are good things about the Epic, especially for families. . . then you get there and it sucks just as much as they said!

I agree with you bradleyk on loving cruising but I have to be able to see out--no luggage compartment for me LOL. I think sometimes most just want to cruise and never check out the options or what anyone has to say about not just cruise lines but any vacation or excursion. The only expectations I have when I sail is to have a good time and yep I always do.

i do love the posts that say 'i just booked a round the world cruise in cabin 12345, does anyone know what type of cabin this is?"

for those that dont know about the bathrooms here is a short video

if you want another bathroom story, the dupont circle hotel in DC is one. i stayed there but on the TOP floor because i wanted a door to the bathroom. it was 400 a nite but oh well. better than these issues:

Your bathrooms are a complete joke in regards to privacy and functionality!!! Listening to your partner use the restroom isn't exactly the most romantic or comfortable of experiences. And the functionality of the shower to the toilet area is a complete joke!

Adding . . . it didn't bother me enough to ruin my cruise, but it bothered me enough that along with other things, (the disconnection from the water, too big, weird casino layout, etc.) I wouldn't go out of my way to book it again.

Never say never though . . . the right price for the right itinerary on the right dates and I'd go back!

Before I sailed on the Epic in 2015 I did my share of looking around on the internet. However the $399 fare for a week in the Studio was way too good to pass up.

Was able to see some of the other cabins through a cabin crawl through the CC Meet and Greet.

The rounded beds wouldn't work for me. As a person who stands 6'4, there was more than my feet hanging off the edge. Would I consider sleeping sideways with my feet on the couch, at double occupancy, for a balcony, probably. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I rebooked the Epic for a few weeks from now because of sailing from Port Canaveral (close to home) and the price again. Booked the Studio again. Found the room to be nicely laid out, never found myself cramped, except when a few people came to visit. The separate shower and toilet stalls aren't really a concern since I was by myself. However the toilet cubicle and door are a bit rough on the knees at my height. The bed was perfect though.

I thought the ship was nicely laid out. The casino is a bit odd, but all in all, I never found it too busy or crowded. Except around the pool on sea days, but I got a Posh Pass, so didn't bother me much.

I'm looking forward to another sailing on the Epic. And I'm looking forward to the secret stairwells this time!

Sailed the Epic in November of 2015, and did more than the normal amount of research. I new exactly what to expect with the cabin layout, and entered with a completely open mind. After a week of occupancy, I came to the conclusion that it isn't for me. Like others have posted, with the right itinerary at the right price, I could go again.

Having recently sailed the Gem, I was reminded how much more I like the conventional design.

Some folks just live to be negative. (I don't really understand that way of thinking or life, but so be it). They could be flown to the port city in a private jet, limo to the port, escorted directly onboard, have a suite, never have to wait in line for anything and have limo and plane home and the whole thing could be free and they STILL would find something to come on here and whine about.

And then there are those who whine about the whiners.

Most everyone I know at work has been on a cruise at some point. None of them have ever heard of cruisecritic. Usually they book a cruise and then a week before sailing they ask me what there is to do on the ship and in port. Think researching the trip before you book it is the exception, not the norm.

Most everyone I know at work are not cruisers but they have comments. Most of my friends say they could never be trapped on a ship that long. They would only like being out on the ports, etc. Me, I wouldn't mind if we were at sea all week.

One person said to me just yesterday Oh I could not stay awake for the midnight buffet. [emoji848]

We don't even have those any more.

To me the ports are just expensive cruise passenger venues. Only see cruisers. By the thousands.

This May when we arrive at DockYard it's going to be so crowded the next morning. It will be our (me and Ed) first personal experience sharing the area and transportation with Anthem of the Seas. We're all going to be standing in a lot of lines if we want to do anything.

I'll be on my balcony relaxing!

Oh and no one I know has ever heard of cruise critic. In the big picture of the cruising industry, we aren't that popular. [emoji6] But I've met a lot of friends here. I sense it losing even more popularity though. My current roll call is dead. Even the organizer quit.

I LOVE everything about our cruises! We both do.

Except the last morning leaving. Just a little... I've learned to accept reality better.

Hello. It's over. Go home. Get outta here. Don't let the cabin door hit you on the way out. And careful of those piles of dirty linen too. [emoji52][emoji38]

I feel abandoned. They only care about the new arrivals in a couple hours [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

But. I have cats waiting for me. So YOU get out of my MY way. See you next year.

Crazy mind movie moment. Must be the falling snow that made me open tapatalk.
