After a rather nice sunny morning in Southampton we arrived at the Ocean Terminal at 11:30. As usual CPS did an excellent job and before 12:00 we were met at the gangway and escorted to the Rostron Suite - I hadn't told my wife which cabin I had booked so she was quite overwhelmed. Luggage arrived swiftly and we were soon off to lunch, that nice table at the end of the room for 8. Great table of cruisers so we look forward to the next few days aboard the lovely Queen Elizabeth. Only complaint so far is that the Bose dock is still the old type connection - glad I brought the old iPod.

Delightful dinner last night, 6 of the table went for the rack of lamb which they all approved, my filet and shin of beef was excellent and my wifes new york strip was good. Woke this morning to quite choppy waters, wind speed of 38knots, ship speed of 15 knots - the decks are closed so its just fresh air on the terrace - I have certainly had calmer seas on a January TA. We will see what the day brings.

10:40 and Captain made an anouncement about the bad weather ane warning passengers to take care, use handrails and not worry about the creaking noises. 12:00 announcement indicated an possible improvement but 3 hrs later it is just the same. Restaurant not that busy at lunch and we were 3 don in numbers. Some of the smaller vessels around are pitching quite profoundly.

Our steward has moved all the terrace furniture to safety and brought in the glass topped tables.

Decks are open and a few (very few) are braving the elements.

Suprised no one has mentioned the electrical failure last night, at around 7pm that caused engines and bar fridges to stop, and emergency lighting to operate. However the incident only lasted about 15 mins. SeaStart must have been nearby !
