BethersD Posted January 8, 2017 #52 Share Posted January 8, 2017 The Carnival Hub app is a GREAT feature! (It worked most of the time) Remember to download it before you leave home. It will not work until you board the ship, but there are many features you can use without paying for internet. This included the daily schedule and open times of venues on the ship. I took a few screen shots. Also, you could see your onboard account (spending) on the app. Carnival no longer prints out a copy of your spending, so a screen shot of your account is a great way to know what your final bill will be. Alternately, you can use a kiosk to print your bill, or go to guest services to get a hard copy. The kiosks did not work well - the screens are getting old and they do not recognize touch well. Here is one of the kiosks (left in the picture): Carnival hub app screen shots: You can tap on the stars to the left of the activity to add it to your favorites. Sent from my iPad using Forums I have a question about the Hub app, as I've never used it and I think you mentioned that we can access it for free? So to be clear (before I mention it to my DH....) I can download the Hub app and use it (or at least some of it) without purchasing any of the ship's wifi packages? We were on Conquest last year so this is new to me. Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #56 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Red Frog Pub: Forgot to mention: We tried the "get to know your ship" activity on the first day. It was really lame and just a walk around deck 5. The reason I mention it, is that I read the Fun Times wrong. The tour starts here at the pub. In stead, my mom and I went to the Red Frog Rum Bar on the pool deck. When we did not see anyone getting a group together, I re-checked the Fun Times... We sprinted down to the pub, and got there just in time! Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #57 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Red Frog Pub gets two posts - it is such a fun place to take pictures of. Unfortunately, the entertainment was not that good here - most of the time it was acoustic jams with Erin and Sean. They tried to do a country music night in Ocean Plaza and they did not know the songs well. It was a bit painful to watch them... hopefully they have already improved with more practice and performance. Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #58 Share Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) Next: The Taste Bar: Our timing was off with this one. We never made it on time to taste the offerings. On to my favorite spot... The coffee bar: As mentioned before, the coffee card was one of my favorite things. After 6 coffees, you get one free. Since I usually bought cappuccino for both me and my mom, we ended up with 3 free cappuccinos for the week! [emoji846] I LOVE Free! You cannot wait until you are on the ship to download it, because you need internet to download it from the app store. Once you are on the ship, you can use the app for free to check your account, the daily program, and most features on the app. You do use the free limited ship wifi for this. The only feature that requires an extra fee (as far as I remember it is $5 oer device) is the optional "chat" feature. With this feature, you can pay per device to "text" your family on the ship. They have to have the app and chat feature also. It is only to chat on the ship... it does not text to land. Hope that is clear.

Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #61 Share Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) Continuing our tour of deck 5: Alchemy Bar: Tip: Consider doing the Martini Tasting. DH and I shared the experience one time (On Liberty, I think) and it was a great way to get to know unique Martinis. Tip: You can get some continental breakfast items here every morning. They have the best orange juice here. The coffee was also better than what they serve in the Lido. Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #62 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Ocean Plaza Carnival Hub (Computers are in several location throughout the ship for you to use. Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #63 Share Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) Deck 5 Outside: I love this deck - you can walk all around the ship, which is great if it is not windy. It is also a way to avoid crowds or to avoid walking through the casino: These hot tubs were used more than I noticed on Dream. I guess word got out. :D Pig and Anchor offers a great sea day lunch. Note that there are two lines. We saw a very long line, and a gentleman was kind enough to inform us of the other line, from the opposite side. We ended up in a very short line. Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #64 Share Posted January 8, 2017 That concludes our Deck 5 tour, for now. I am sure I will find more pictures I missed, but will cover the shops with the atrium. With that, our first sea day tour is over. Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #65 Share Posted January 8, 2017 I will close day 2 with our food items. I do not remember all the names, but the lobster, tilapia, and chicken were very good. The prime rib was a disappointment. Desserts were both good, but I do not remember the names... Note to self: Take a picture of the menu! Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare APDMOM Posted January 8, 2017 Author #66 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Unfortunately, my day job starts again tomorrow, so I will have to pause here until tomorrow night. *sigh* I did not win the lottery yet. I asked about them on the Breeze & they said they didn't have any.☕️ Sent from my iPad using Forums The barista gave me one the first time I bought cappuccino. Every time the card was full, she gave me a new one. Maybe they only use it on certain ships or cruises... I would still ask every time - just to see if they get them during the cruise.
