Return Taxi from Playa Mia

We are a family of four travelling to Cozumel on March 31 on RC Oasis.... I have seen a number of posts saying how easy it is to just grab a taxi right at the pier.

 

We are planning on going to Playa Mia - I am concerned about arranging for transportation back to the ship...Are there taxis readily available at Playa Mia to take you back?

 

Children are 9 and 7 are car seats required? We will have them with us on the ship just unsure about lugging them around all day?

When we were done in Playa Mia in August there were taxis lined up outside and we took one. We took a van since we had 8. No car seat needed for our 7 year old.

There's no car seat law in Mexico. So it's your choice to lug them or not.

 

There are seat belts so for your kids, that'll probably work out fine. Any reason to bring them on board? You driving to port? No place to put them?

EVERY beach club we've visited on Coz has had taxis waiting in the afternoon to take guest back to the pier. On one occasion our waiter had to call one at Nachi, but the cab arrived before we were packed up and ready. You will not have any issues - just pay attention to the time.

To answer above question about car seats..we are travelling from Canada and renting a car for a few days before and after the cruise. With what the car rentals charge for a car seat its sometimes more economical to take our own.

 

Reconsidering that thou - space is limited and if we dont require them in our ports we may just pay for the convenience of renting .

You can also ask your cab driver to come back at a specific time to pick you up. We've done that in Cozumel as well as Montego Bay. Since there is so much competition, they are usually more than willing to come back for you at the appointed time. We had a larger group of 6 both times, and wanted to stay together in one vehicle.

Have you looked into car seat laws for where you will be driving? Most 9 year olds wouldn't be required to have one, although I know that as a parent you may want your child to use it still.

Been to Coz around 12 times and there have always been taxis waiting no matter where we were.
