Private Transfers from Port to Airport

Recommended Posts

Hi All. Princess has advised us that we are 10 minutes short of their recommended time frame of 5 hours between disembarking and flight time. We are looking at options for transportation from the pier to the airport. Should we assume that there will be sufficient taxis at the pier or should we book a private transfer. We plan to self disembark so will be able to leave as soon as ship is given the all clear. We are on a Sydney to Sydney cruise. As one of our stops is Papua, New Guinea, will we be required to clear customs at the pier? Any recommendations for a transportation service will be appreciated. We are in Sydney for 5 days between our cruises and thought we could line up our airport transfer at that time. We will also check with our Sydney hotel (Amora Jamison)for their recommendations. Thanks in advance for any advice.:D

I see that you are booked on Princess so you are likely to be departing and arriving at the White Bay terminal. With a cruise to PNG, you will need to go through Immigration and Customs but they are usually very fast. We have never had a problem getting a taxi at White Bay.

If you are booking a transfer, I suggest you do NOT use Kingsford Smith Transport. They may have improved, but the last time we used them they left us waiting for hours. :( We kept phoning them and were always told the van was "on the way". We had pre-paid so we waited. Other people in the van were also grumbling.

What time is your flight? You will need two hours (safe) at the airport. Trip to the airport, say 30 minutes. Princess's five hours time frame is obviously allowing for accomodating a whole coach load of people . Taxis may be at a premium that day as there are three ships , two at White Bay, in at the same time. The Dawn will be at White Bay terminal proper butq providing you get the earliest debark time possible you should be able to grab a taxi ok. I don't think there will be any Customs other than the usual orange arrival card collection ( no passports) and takes no time at all, especially if you are first off.
