sunseawinedine Posted January 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Hi I am wondering if any lovely cruiser out there can tell me if I pre purchase OBC through Celebrity will the credit be allocated to me or will it go onto the room as a whole or the person who booked the cruise. There are 4 of us travelling. I emailed Celebrity yesterday...via their link to RCC Aust asking them but as of yet not heard anything back. I have done what I consider a reasonable search on here but could not find an answer, so I apologise in advance if this seems like a simple question and the answer should be readily found. Thanks in advance for your responses. :) Cheers Edited January 11, 2017 by sunseawinedine

However, if there is one account for the cabin then everyone will have access to it. You will need to set up four individual sea pass accounts for on board. qbay46 Posted January 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2017 Hi, I have purchased OBC in the past and the amount went on to the cabin, but I didn't ask it to go on to if it could go on to the person buying it.Ring them and see if you can get an answer. Rare MicCanberra Posted January 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2017 Celebrity's OBC can be done online as well and it will ask who it is for. But like I said, unless there are separate accounts set up it will be for all in the cabin.
DianeandMark Posted January 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2017 We purchased through the Celebrity website and it asked who the credit was for...my husband, myself or both. I'm assuming it will show the same for you. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Fletch1 Posted January 12, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Check the exchange rate before you buy.....usually it is better than the daily rate, sometimes it is worse. Could be more beneficial to spend up and go with your credit card exchange rate at the end of the cruise.
sunseawinedine Posted January 13, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Thanks everyone, I think I will call Celebrity direct, still no reply to email I sent them. We do all have separate accounts. The cost of each OBC unit is $32.50 AUD presumably from what I can see on some of the forums here, that should be what it transfers to in US dollars on board as well? not sure how that works unless the AUD dollars amount already account for the exchange? I emailed my travel agent too and she has said i can transfer money to them and they can add the OBC for me. :) Edited January 13, 2017 by sunseawinedine
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted January 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2017 For AU $32.50 you get US $25 OBC, that's an exchange rate of .77 which is a bit better than today's .75. If you all have separate onboard accounts then it should be simple - just make sure it goes to your account, and it's probably easier (safer?) to do that online. As mentioned each unit is $25 USD for a cost of $32.50 AUD.:D Edited January 15, 2017 by MicCanberra
taffy62 Posted January 16, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Oh I'm happy then :) I'm going on my first Celebrity cruise in April on the Solstice. Had the Classic drink package included in the price, booked an ocean view. The travel agent offered us $300 American OBC for can extra cost of $90 pp Twin cabin So it looks like that was a good deal. I'm just not sure if I will need to have more money available on board and what is the best way to do it. I'm going to Nouméa and Lifou, been there heaps of times so won't spend on shore tours. And most drinks I enjoy would be included. Not a shopping type person so I'm wondering if this obc will be enough. Nicstar Posted January 18, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2017 If that $300 is per person and you already have a drinks package and won't buy shore excursions or anything on board, I am sure it is more than enough. I worked out without alcohol and sodas I spent only $170. $100 was a gift for xmas for my parents for speciality dining. $30 was for a GoPro accessory. $30 was a gift for a friend. And $30 was a shore excursion. It would have been $200 but I won back my $30 I spent on duty free alcohol. Sent from my XT1068 using Forums mobile app That depends on if your gratuities are paid as well. These are around $13.50 per person per day. And also if you are a Casino or specialty restaurant type person.

taffy62 Posted January 19, 2017 #15 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Yep if anything we will spend it in casino or the restaurants was thinking I could put it on casino card then cash it out but it can't be done on this ship. Were opting to remove gratuities once on board as we haven't paid them yet.
