Carnival Vista moving to Galveston

That's what they are going to do prolly from now on is move the newer ship to Galveston and make room in Miami for the brand new ship. The horizon. That's what happened when the vista went to Miami.

Wonder why they would do that especially with the bigger ships and fog constantly being an issue? So now when there are delays, it will be on an even bigger proportion. I'm scared to sail from there for that very reason. What a mess it becomes.

I, for one, am THRILLED :D:D I dont mind fog delay's as long as i am on a ship! Living in Dallas, it's only a 5 hour drive to port!!! WOO HOO:p

They do that because they are carnival's most demand port outside of Florida. So they are wanting to keep cruisers happy with bringing in the newer ships to the port.

We don't have fog here very often! Maybe a couple of times a year, but that's not any more than any other tropical location.

Why not move it to Port Canaveral then? Should be able to handle these massive ships and it's my preferred port lol.

Fog really is not as big of an issue down here as every one likes to make it seem. Handful of sailings a year and usually only in winter...Sailed several times and go there on weekends frequently with zero issues.

 

That being said...so excited to have Vista only one hour away!

Not from what I have read. Fog is a familiar problem there, but I think it's worse certain times of the year. Can't recall how many times I have seen posts on people delayed for hours due to it there, but it has been a lot. Sure, every port can have problems, but fog seems to haunt Galveston. I think I saw once where it happened in Miami, and maybe a couple in Tampa. Still makes me vow to stay away.

Yep, THIS exactly. 😊 I've cruised out of Galveston I don't even know how many times, and the only time we ever ran into fog was one night between Cozumel and Belize. The fog horn blew all night, but it was clear when we arrived in a Belize in the morning.

Not having a Dream class ship based in Galveston will result in my taking a more serious look at Royal Caribbean.

 

That or the Freedom. That class isn't my favorite though it is far more enticing than the Vista.

I am confused though as to why they are doing away with the Bahamas on the ship. I suppose that's because the freedom will still go:) there!

I wish Galveston had better itineraries so I can consider leaving from there. Their itineraries suck. Good thing I'm cruising Vista this year.

Cruised the breeze twice and wanted to cruise Vista but did not want to travel to florida/hotel and Galveston is 20 min away

Yeah but I am super stoked about the vista coming to Galveston. Just booked the Breeze for next January so that worked out great. Now I am feverishly looking at the Vista cruises right now to get the cabin I want and when I want to go! :):):):)

unless they change something all 2019 showing are accounted for no weeks to put the Eastern in.
