Car Rental in Sydney

We are arriving into Sydney on October 10th on the Carnival Legend and will be renting a car. Can you tell me what area in Sydney is the best to rent a car from? We have checked on line and there are several hire car places but can't tell which ones are near the cruise port.

 

Also we will be heading to the Blue Mountains and then to the Bondi beach area. Are there toll roads we would be going on?

 

 

Now for New Zealand - we are flying to Auckland and will be renting a car again there. Is there a car rental near the port?

In the Sydney city area, most car rental outlets are clustered around William st, just after the base of Hyde Park (e.g. Crown/Bourke Sts). It's about a 25 min walk from the terminal, or a 10 min taxi ride. In that area, you'll find all the major, plus some minor rental operators.

 

If driving from there to Bondi Beach there is no toll road. If driving from the city to the Blue Mountains (and back) you may use a toll road, depending on which route you take.

Avis has an outlet in the Marriott Circular Quay which is a short walk. As The_Big_M said most of them are in William Street. We have had one person catch a cab or walk (bit of a hike) up and then come back and pick up rest and luggage.

If you put circular quay and blue mountains into google maps you can see your route options.

 

There will probably be a toll (depending on route) - most are now cashless and they display a phone number on big signs multiple times on route to call to pay within 48 or 72 hours. Not hugely expensive.
