owlfun Posted January 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2017 Has anyone experienced recently sealice while on Castaway Cay? I went last year in February on the Magic and had the unfortunate experience and was not prepared with the lotion that is available for that! Has any one else had this happen to them? rkkunk Posted January 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2017 We didn't have a problem the November that we went. I think they are more prevalent in the spring/summer when the water is warmer. If I am wrong, please correct me. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Mic101680 Posted January 28, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2017 We were there this week and didn't have any problems. I did notice that they had the sea lice lotion in one of the gift shops onboard and also on Castaway Cay in the event you do need it.

owlfun Posted February 11, 2017 Author #13 Share Posted February 11, 2017 YES, I was the one that originally asked! I went last year in February on the Magic and experienced sea lice then on the out island. Going on the Dream this March and I sure hope they are not present! Guess it's hit or miss! DCLCrazy Posted February 12, 2017 #15 Share Posted February 12, 2017 I went to the family beach and didn't feel anything. However on the same trip, our table mates, who went to the adult Serenity beach, did feel them. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
KKMMex Posted January 17, 2018 #16 Share Posted January 17, 2018 My daughter and another child in our group experienced them out in the snorkeling area next to the family beach. This was over the New Year’s cruise just two weeks ago. Two other adults and another child snorkeling with them were not affected. It was so bizarre! alaska_planner Posted January 19, 2018 #17 Share Posted January 19, 2018 it's the reason we didn't go in to the water.... we didn't want to be bothered....we live 10 minutes from a blue flag Mediterranean beach so figured it wasn't worth having to deal with... Capt_BJ Posted January 27, 2018 #19 Share Posted January 27, 2018 how can one get it ... and not another .... on the same visit ????? RINSE RINSE RINSE the nature of DCL's family beach makes it an IDEAL breeding ground so you won't escape these lil buggers if you visit in breeding season BUT you CAN rinse them off if you are very good about rinsing ... and that means pulling suits away from the body (or getting the suit OFF) most eruptions happen where the suit elastic is at the skin ...... ya gots to rinse this area BIG TIME ...... mousefan73 Posted February 4, 2018 #22 Share Posted February 4, 2018 Never heard of these lice too before researching for our cruise.. Can some one comment how much the lotion is at CC ? or if this is easily available at Target, Walmart in Orlando? is Safe sea the only brand for this? and does it help keep off regular jelly fish too? NeedsVitaminSea Posted February 7, 2018 #23 Share Posted February 7, 2018 We experienced them during our Fantasy cruise in October. The kids went out into the snorkeling lagoon, near all of the grassy plants in the water and that's when they started to itch. We've never used lotion so I have no idea if it works. The nurse at first aid was spraying people with something (vinegar?) to neutralize the sting. A lot of people were affected. We did not go back in above our knees for the rest of the day. I grew up in South Florida where this is a regular phenomenon so I'm used to not swimming at the beach!

rkkunk Posted March 27, 2018 #25 Share Posted March 27, 2018 I know that when we had to buy it on the ship, it was much more expensive than ordering it off of Amazon. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
