Alicomp Posted January 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2017 (edited) For those of you who don't buy the Viking TripMate trip insurance, which companies do you recommend for travel insurance (delay, interruption, cancel for any reason, etc), not medical insurance? Thank you. Edited January 16, 2017 by Alicomp

stretchcruz Posted January 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2017 I've used insuremytrip.com for many years. Even had to use it for a claim when I had emergency surgery just before a river cruise. You can compare plans, coverage, etc...and one of the best parts is that you can book a cruise, pay for the insurance, then if you have to cancel the cruise for some reason you can transfer the insurance to the next cruise that you book. We've done that several times. We always make sure to book within the 2 weeks after our initial deposit so that pre existing conditions are covered. cargo13 Posted January 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2017 We found CSA http://www.csatravelprotection.com/plan-details on the comparison website InsureMyTrip and have bought them ever since. Those comparison websites give you a price comparison but you really need to dig into the coverages as they are not 1:1. CSA had the most extensive coverage amounts for the base plan. CSA's trip cancel covers family members, not just the travelers/insureds, so if your family the US caused you to cancel your trip, you are covered. For Cancel For Any Reason coverage, you need to buy @ insurance at same time of booking Viking.
stretchcruz Posted January 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2017 You're right you really need to compare. On Insuremytrip.com it's pretty easy...it's all lined up in rows. I was just so happy after we switched to a different cruise that the coverage switched with us. And when I had a problem and couldn't cruise that they refunded everything including priceline hotels and private cruises and tours.
garycarla Posted January 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Just to be clear. Insurance does not mean none of this will happen: - you miss the ship and the first few days - trip was cut short/delayed - luggage was lost - long layover somewhere They may give you some money back, but NOBODY can insure you make your cruise in time. Just sayin.
